I just returned from a four-night stay at Hotel Seiyo Ginza and it was a wonderful stay overall, mainly because of the exceptional service provided by the hotel staff.
I contacted the Concierge staff by email prior to arrival to request reservations for restaurants I wanted to try. They were able to book all the reservations I requested and also made recommendations where needed. I was traveling with my husband, parents, and sister and we also asked the hotel to arrange guided tours of major sights in Tokyo, as well as a tour of the Tsukiji fish market. They were able to recommend a very good private guide who spoke completely fluent English and was knowledgeable on the history of the sights.
I would highly recommend the Tsukiji fish market experience. Despite the early hour (had to be in line at 4am), the tuna auction was unlike anything else I've seen. For the sushi breakfast, our guide was able to recommend a phenomenal restaurant at the market that is not in guidebooks. This was my fourth visit to Tokyo, but I think Tsukiji was debatably the most interesting sight to see in the city.
Aside from the great Concierge services, the rest of the hotel was also excellent. Rooms were large by Tokyo standards, especially the spacious bathrooms, and were consistently well-sized; we had three rooms and all were similar in size. The location is also very convenient, as the hotel is located right in the heart of the Ginza shopping district and steps away from the Ginza subway line.
The hotel is in general very quiet and elegant, with exceptional service. The hotel staff recognize guests by face and name, which I thought was quite impressive, given the size of the hotel. Each time we arrived back at the hotel to pick up our keys, they had them ready for us, without having to ask our names or room nujbers. If you're looking for a more modern, trendy type of hotel, this is not it, but if you want understated elegance, with attention to detail, the Seiyo Ginza is the perfect choice.
