“Stone's throw from public transportation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

Probably the main pull of this hotel is its close proximity to the TCAT - literally 1min walk away. Exit TCAT & cross the busy intersection towards 7-11, walk down the street & the hotel's at corner on 1st left (darkish pink exterior). Staff spoke basic English. Small reception area doubled up as breakfast nook (complimentary for guests) - simple selection of toast, salad, hardboiled eggs, pastries, coffee/tea, milk, juice, miso soup. No limits. Guests mainly comprised business travellers who probably can't afford the pricier Royal Park Hotel (next to TCAT).

Rooms were arranged at side of building, with an atrium stretching from glass roof down to lobby at ground floor - maybe part of green effort to bring in natural light. A bit daunting for those prone to vertigo. My room was expectedly small but clean & decor looked new. Altho' I booked a single room, mine had a double bed - thumbs up on sleep quality!

Laundry facilities weren't free. With light breakfast thrown in & close proximity to 7-11 and Nihombashi area, Suitengumae Metro Stn (2min walk) & TCAT, hotel gives good value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for room near elevator to avoid long walk

“Good for short visit”

The main reason I choose this hotel was location. It's really close to AirPort Bus Terminal, only few minutes on foot. My flight from Tokyo was early in the morning, so I just walked and took the bus, it was comfortable. Room was small, but clean. Breakfast is located in the lobby, but it doesn's bother a lot. It's ok hotel.

“Great value, great location”

The Villa Fontaine chain is renowned for good value and service, without frills. The Hazokaki branch is a block from the Tokyo City Air Terminal and very near the atmospheric eating and entertainment area of Ningyo-cho. It is steps from the ubiquitous Tokyo subway. Service is excellent -- very personal and obliging, e.g., if one has to leave baggage while travelling or awaiting airport transport after checkout. Rooms are small -- 20 square meters or less -- but efficient, with full bathrooms, queen-size beds, fridge and a desk with free internet access. There is no fitness centre or pool and, aside from the (included) breakfast, no restaurant, but the hotel is surrounded by excellent little Japanese cafes and takeout "obento" places. The only minor quibble we had was that the dryer in the coin laundry was too slow. And not necessarily recommended for very tall foreigners -- although it is worth inquiring about their limited number of twin rooms that offer more space, albeit at a higher price.

“Awesome location, Clean and nice rooms”

this place is in a PERFECT location. couple minutes from Tokyo Narita Limousine bus terminal and couple minutes from a subway station (suitengume) as well. staffs are SUPER friendly and the free breakfast is great as well. the room was clean and had everything I needed, including a small refrigerator.

The only negative part of this hotel is the super hard mattress. other than that, I've enjoyed the hotel and I will probably go there again.

“Very good value spotless budget hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2010

Needed a single room for a couple of days and villa fontaine hakozaki was such a good find. Booked directly with the hotel and paid around 6500yen per night with breakfast, which was even cheaper than toyoko inn. Budget hotel compared to budget hotel, villa fontaine was newer, bigger, cleaner and with better service.

Their single rooms are all semi double rooms (whereas other budget hotels like toyoko inn have real single rooms which are smaller and charges even more). Although still compact, room size was quite suitable for single travelers. I would suspect it would be quite tight for 2 people. Room was nicely furnished and spotless. No complaints.

Location was very convenient. less than 1 min from subway station (within 7min walk another 2 subway stations for different subway lines) and right next to Airport Limo bus terminal. Convenient stores and small restaurants within 1 min. 1 stop of subway takes you to huge mitsukoshi department store. Although Shinjuku is the big shopping hub, Mitsukoshi Mae station has much shopping to offer too. Very nice french restaurant within 10 min walking distance.

Service was standard japanese perfect service attitude. Again, no complaints at all.

Breakfast was served in the small lobby and was provided for free. It was the most crowded breakfast I've seen in these small hotels. But it's for free, so can't complaint.

All in all I highly recommend this hotel for single travelers or couple who are searching for budget hotels. Their chain in general is higher in quality than the toyoko inns but comparable in pricing.
