“Very Nice Hotel in Ginza, Tokyo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Recommended by a business colleague, this is a nice choice when staying in the Ginza region of Tokyo. It is conveniently located by several subway and rail stations, and an easy cab ride from Tokyo station when you are coming from the airport via Narita Express.

As you'd expect for Tokyo, it has a very modern feel and nice design. Some furniture in the lobby is showing signs of high traffic use, but overall, the property is in good condition. The hotel is usually busy, but the excellent staff manages the property well. The staff speaks English well, so they are able to handle your questions and requests well.

The Hotel entrance is on the street, but the lobby is on the 16th floor. A dedicated elevator inside the street entrance is fast and efficient (you don't have to share elevator with other building occupants).

Rooms are typical Japan size, small, but they are in very good shape and have nice beds and fixtures. Internet is via ethernet cables, so you my have to search out a place for your Wi-Fi device. The views from the rooms are nice, and the view from the lobby is fantastic. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Fuji peeking out from behind the Tokyo tall buildings.

There is lots to do in the local area, obviously there is Ginza for shopping, and the Tsukiji fish market is a must do.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that would face towards Mt. Fuji (west) if the weather is clear.

“Ginza Tokyo is sublime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Friends of mine who live in Tokyo invited to visit with them. They were kind enough to pick me up at the airport and deliver me to the hotel.

From the moment I was left at the front door I was engaged with this hotel. The street level doors open automatically and once inside there is a calm. The feeling is modern, Asian, and yet not stark or cold. The elegant and comfortable lobby is on the 16th floor - the views are stunning both in the morning and the evening. The staff is exceptionally friendly and very accommodating to non Japanese. The room size seemed small, but apparently typical for an Asian business traveller. The view form the room was sensational and it had every accommodation to make me feel "at home." The room was immaculate, the necessary amenities all available and very nice.

Each morning I took breakfast at the hotel (actually one morning I are with locals at the fish market - that was sensational) and found it to be very nicely done. Admittedly, it was my first time combing octopus salad and scrambled eggs, but it worked.

Being a lifelong hospitality professional (I am the General Manager of Winged Foot Golf Club) I look for the memorable service moment - sometimes they happen, and sometimes they do not. Well, at Mitsui Garden Hotel it happened. As I prepared to take the airport shuttle, I was informed that someone from the staff would see me off. (Are you kidding?!) The young lady from the front desk accompanied me outside with the pushcart carrying my luggage, and stood at the curbside with me for at least 10 minutes in the freezing cold waiting for the bus. As if this effort were not enough, she waiting curbside until the bus pulled away. WOW! What makes it so special to me is that she was not doing it to earn a gratuity. Her curbside presence was a commitment to the Hotel's hospitality.

If you are in Ginza, consider the Mitsui Garden Hotel. I found it well above average, in fact very good.

“Nice hotel,nice location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

After a pleasant stay in 2011,i decided to stay here again, still a great place to stay in Tokyo

The moderate room is roomy (at least for japan's standard),the mattress and pillow is great, the staff are really helpful (though they don't speak that much english),the refresh spray and the free (and fast) internet is another added value, there's also a touchscreen in the lobby to browse the places of interest in the city, there is also subway and locality map on the shelf right across the front desk

Location wise, this hotel is great, around 10 minutes walk to 2 subway line + JR + Yurikamome so getting around shouldn't be a problem

if youre looking for cheaper foods,go to the area near JR station,if youre looking for more fancy foods,go towards ginza area,if you dont want to walk that far, theres a convenience store close to the hotel entrance (there are many microwave bento selections here)

My complaint about this hotel is the do not disturb/make up room switch,i have to switch off the do not disturb before turning on the make up room,i find it a bit annoying when im in a hurry,no free wifi on the lobby, also the in room slipper is small (around us men size 7-8)

if you take the airport limousine to the hotel, its a bit confusing to find the entrance to the hotel especially if that is your first time (the lobby is on the 16th floor..) the entrance is just a sofa and 2 elevators to the lobby. Basically if you get off the bus, turn left(towards the don q sign) and turn right, the entrance is on the other side of the building (close to another smaller street)

Room Tip: Order the room via the hotel's official homepage, the member only price is a good value,becoming...

“Two thumbs up!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I've stayed in many kinds of hotel in Japan. This one is one of the most exciting one. Sitting pretty at one corner of Ginza Area, this hotel boosts Zen style entrance. Huge black door with a beautiful flower arrangement. The lobby is on the 18th floor and the lobby itself...wow... I'm an admirer of beautiful interior designs, this one is topped all lobby interiors of all the hotels I've stayed in or even only seen. And I've been to so many hotels. It's not a luxurious type. It's like walking into a cozy living room or sitting area of a large home. Many comfy sofa, not identical one to another. I wanted to lay down, popped my head with one of those soft pillows and curl with a good book and a cup of latte. Yes, it looks that inviting. The rooms however, typical Japanese hotels. Not big, but quite comfortable with big TV plasma. You don't need to ask cleanliness degree. It's Japan after all. To stay in this hotel is an experience itself. A bit deep in the pocket for the rate, but it's worth it.

“What a view!”

A great hotel in a great location; close to Shimbashi station and minutes from the extravagant Ginza shops.
Delightful, helpful English speaking staff.
There is also a tasty buffet breakfast - as healthy as you want it to be. Sadly, the other half was never tempted to stray away from the bacon and chips. Do get there early - and by that we mean before half eight - in order to beat the queues and bag a seat with a view.
The cocktail bar is expensive, small and smoky; probably best off elsewhere.

Room Tip: Regarding rooms, don't waste your cash on a "View bath" as the rooms are smaller than...
