“Value for money find Near the Imperial Palace”

We were a family of three adults staying in between Christmas and New Years 2011
The hotel taxi ride from Tokyo Station (we commuted via NEX from Narita Airport) - from memory about 1400 Yen. Suprisingly had no issues communicating to the Taxi Driver our destination, perhaps as there are only a few hotels in the area.

We stayed in a triple room (if you look the pictures you will see a set up just like we had) which was very very cosy for three adults, but more-than-comfortable for us to crash in at night. If you wanted a more spacious room they were offering upgrades for 2000Yen per night at Reception on check in.
Room was clean, bed was a bit firm and pillows were a bit odd (sort of bean filled or something like that?) but not wholly uncomfortable. Everything was compact, but with some clever manouvering we were able to fit our three suitcases, plus hang our various coats (even my brother’s ski gear to dry) in the bathroom.
Only one english channel from memory (BBC). There are vending machines available on every floor (alcoholic drinks on odd floors, non-alcoholic on even floors) and an ice machine and trouser press.
We were able to access wifi from our room - but unsure if this is available on all levels (we were on level 3 I think). They also provided a cable to access wired internet.
There are several food options along the main road, if you walk in the direction of the imperial palace you will find anything from zakaya/local bars, to chinese-style restaurants, simple udon or gyudon options, as well as a Doutor Coffee Shop and Choco Cro Café (both of which are perfect for a coffee and pastry for breakfast). There are also several Family Mart convenience stores down the road as well, great for picking up snacks and drinks and any little last minute necessities.

Location of the hotel was relatively central, we got to all of the major sites with a maximum of one transfer on all our trips. The subway station is literally across the road, which was fantastic! But for the price it was totally worth a little extra travel time in between places, and the peace and quiet of the area was a bonus.

Thoroughly recommend this place if you are after value for money, cleanliness and comfort.

“Clean and cozy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Couldn't have asked for a closer location to the metro stop. Got stuck in Tokyo and found this hotel on hotels.com. and I think we got a standard double, which was in a very small but clean room with a double bed (and rice maker). We stayed another night (unexpectedly) and they upgraded us to a larger room (not by much), but at least we had more room for luggage. It's a nice modern hotel in a quiet business/residential neighborhood with a few restaurants nearby and a market. For Americans with no Japanese, though, it was tough in the neighboring restaurants b/c all menus were in Japanese only. We did a lot of pointing (and there is the market nearby for snacks). Would have loved free Wi-Fi in the room, but it's becoming less common. Would have loved train instructions from the airport on their website.

“Monterey Hanzomon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Stayed there for several times and weeks. The hotel is very well located: Hanzomon is really quiet during the night. Some restaurants, shops next to it.
Rooms are typically Tky small but absolutely okay. You might hear the pipes and drums from the near British embassy! Also very near is the Emperor's Garden where around we did our jogging. It is a must to run around it and its famous for this.

“A very good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Small but comfortable rooms. Good value for money. Located close to metro line though you need to change at least once for getting to main touristic spots. The area is not very alive at night but hotel is just in front of one entrance to the imperial palace gardens.

“Functional business hotel with a nice lobby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011 via mobile

Rooms were small but located close to the metro, giving access to busy areas in Tokyo. Close to the imperial palace too. While I was there, the national Italian volleyball team were also there!
