“friendly service, clean rooms and bathrooms, well connected to metro though in a non-happening area of Tokyo.”
The subject line says it all. It's a great place if you don't want to pay top dollar and if you want to avoid the noise and lights of Shibuya/Shinjuku etc.
A big plus is that the front desk speaks English - so it's really helpful to take advice/make requests etc. They sell the 2 day metro pass at a discount, so make sure you use that!
We did not take the hotel breakfast deal but there are good bakeries and cafes and a convenience store literally within 5 minutes of the hotel building. The Metro ( Hanzomon line) which you will end up using a lot is right across the hotel.
There is an Izakaya 2 blocks from the hotel which is really authentic, open late and serves yummy food. I think it's called Watamichi, but check with the hotel staff.
The room was okay. Small (it's Tokyo!!) but had everything you need in it (dryer, coffee maker, small TV, cupboard and a small window).
The bed was good, though smaller than a regular American queen size I think. So if you are really tall or large, this might be a problem. I am 5 ft 10 and weigh about 60 kgs, my partner is much heavier at 85 kgs, but we did okay.
The bathroom was decent size and had all amenities. Everything was very very clean and everything works even though looks dated. But don't expect beautiful touches of decor or any luxury or color!
If you are on sightseeing trip, and it's your first time in Tokyo and it's just the 2 of you and you are not looking at luxurious or even highly tasteful accomodation - then this hotel ticks all/most of the boxes.
