“Monterey Hanzomon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Stayed there for several times and weeks. The hotel is very well located: Hanzomon is really quiet during the night. Some restaurants, shops next to it.
Rooms are typically Tky small but absolutely okay. You might hear the pipes and drums from the near British embassy! Also very near is the Emperor's Garden where around we did our jogging. It is a must to run around it and its famous for this.

“A very good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Small but comfortable rooms. Good value for money. Located close to metro line though you need to change at least once for getting to main touristic spots. The area is not very alive at night but hotel is just in front of one entrance to the imperial palace gardens.

“Functional business hotel with a nice lobby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011 via mobile

Rooms were small but located close to the metro, giving access to busy areas in Tokyo. Close to the imperial palace too. While I was there, the national Italian volleyball team were also there!

“Excellent chice! Nice rooms. Upscale clientele. Quiet, convenient location”

Small, but very nice room, suitable for two only. Larger rooms available on higher floors.. Deep bathtub, comfortable bed. Great value for the money. Hotel only 5 years old, so very up to date decor. Downside, internet in lobby only, very mediocre breakfast. Staff very helpful and willing to please, but only rudimentary english spoken. To place it on a map, The hotel is located a few blocks from the Emporer's park on the south side. Reached via honzoman subway line. Take exi 5 at the subway statin and you will exit directly across the street from the hotel via either escalator or elevator. Excellent cheap noodle cafe next door to hotel open7 a.m. To 10 pm. 7-11 typestore in same block. Pharmacy around corner. If arriving in tokyo at Tokyo station, your best bet is to take a taxi to hotel. Tokyo station is a maze and hanzomen line is well hidden and requires walking up and down numerous stairs, etc.not whatyouwill be up for when tired and jet lagged. We reallyenjoyedour stay att his hotel and will return. It's a sanctuary from the noise and traffic of Tokyo.

“friendly service, clean rooms and bathrooms, well connected to metro though in a non-happening area of Tokyo.”

The subject line says it all. It's a great place if you don't want to pay top dollar and if you want to avoid the noise and lights of Shibuya/Shinjuku etc.

A big plus is that the front desk speaks English - so it's really helpful to take advice/make requests etc. They sell the 2 day metro pass at a discount, so make sure you use that!

We did not take the hotel breakfast deal but there are good bakeries and cafes and a convenience store literally within 5 minutes of the hotel building. The Metro ( Hanzomon line) which you will end up using a lot is right across the hotel.

There is an Izakaya 2 blocks from the hotel which is really authentic, open late and serves yummy food. I think it's called Watamichi, but check with the hotel staff.

The room was okay. Small (it's Tokyo!!) but had everything you need in it (dryer, coffee maker, small TV, cupboard and a small window).

The bed was good, though smaller than a regular American queen size I think. So if you are really tall or large, this might be a problem. I am 5 ft 10 and weigh about 60 kgs, my partner is much heavier at 85 kgs, but we did okay.

The bathroom was decent size and had all amenities. Everything was very very clean and everything works even though looks dated. But don't expect beautiful touches of decor or any luxury or color!

If you are on sightseeing trip, and it's your first time in Tokyo and it's just the 2 of you and you are not looking at luxurious or even highly tasteful accomodation - then this hotel ticks all/most of the boxes.
