“Wow!”

Super nice hotel- rooms well appointed. Free wifi - workout gym has super views- get the trainer far from the door so you don't have breeze on you as you work out and it is the best view as well.

The sauna spa is quite nice and discount for guest. It is competitive but overall I agree with othe rpoists everywhere in TOK is expensive but this place has a nice vibe (someone mentioned souless) but I think the staf fis very friendly as you engage with them especially Aia (eye-ah) reception at Gym on 15th and the man who is the host at breakfast.

Don't forget to use your "do not disturb" sign and you will be left alone for the entire time is you want.

Room Tip: Ask for room on city side to see downtown buildings

“Awesome hotel. Loved it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We have just returned from our annual snowboarding pilgrimage to Japan. We stayed at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu twice on our holiday for a total of 5 days. The hotel was great and I highly recommend it for both business and leisure travellers.

(In the interests of full disclosure, the first two day stay was at a discounted rate for providing a tripadvisor review. Given I always review hotels anyway I didn't feel there was any conflict.)

We stayed in a Deluxe King room the first stay. It was very clean, modern and well appointed, and we were also afforded excellent views of Tokyo. We were shown to our room immediately upon arrival despite getting in at 8am. A nice touch. Most importantly for me, the hotel provides free wi-fi. If only more hotels would follow suit! Oh and the beds were amazing...I'll be contacting the hotel to look at where I can buy one - they were that good!

The Capitol is in an excellent location in downtown Akasaka. It's really centrally located and is on a number of train lines with the subway station conveniently located in the hotel's basement. We found some fabulous restaurants and bars in walking distance and it's also near to a few sights such as Hie Shrine and the Japanese Diet (parliament) building.

I had reason to email the concierge a number of times prior to our visit and was so impressed with the level of service and attention to detail provided. The staff also spoke excellent English which isn't always the case in Tokyo hotels.

At the end of our Japan trip we returned to The Capitol for 3 days and I wish it had been longer. We booked a Club Deluxe King for this part of our trip. The room was quite a bit larger than the non club rooms and similarly well appointed.

We didn't get a chance to use the gym which is included in the Club rate but we did make use of the Club which was decent enough. In fact this is probably the only area that the hotel lets itself down somewhat (and I'm really clutching at straws to find something). They provide good drinks and canapes and there's a nice view but it's not quite as good as other clubs I have experienced.

Wi-fi in the club stopped working a few times on both the nights we were there and staff seemed unconcerned. This was frustrating given we were trying to plan our evenings via the web!! On our departure from Tokyo we had an evening flight and asked if we could have club access post check out which was refused. I found this a little surprising as other hotels have always accommodated this request.

But these are very small gripes and really shouldn't detract from staying here. I will definitely stay at The Capitol again when in Tokyo. Top marks!

“Great location and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Stayed two weeks at the Capitol Tokyu while on vacation in Japan. As usual, we use Tokyo as a ase to take the Shinkansen to other places (as far as Aomori this time). We had a corner premier on one of the club floors (floor 29). The views are fantastic and the rooms are very comfortable. A little odd have the shower in the room with the tub but it makes since after a few days. The rainfall shower heads are nice. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. Friendly and accommodation, many speak English very well. Additionally, the hotel is on top of two subway stations (Kokko-gijidomae and tomeiko-sanno). The hotel breakfast in Origami was outstanding, offering traditional American fare with a very tasty full Japanese breakfast, as well. For business or vacation, we would highly recommend this property. It is right beside the Diet complex, emperor's residence, and imperial palace gardens.

Room Tip: Establish email contact with hotel prior to arrival and there is a good chance that they will accomm...

“Very functional, slick, 5* Tokyo hotel with spacious rooms and free wi-fi”

Free wi-fi, attractive Japanese 'paper' screens which slide to separate either the lobby area or the bathroom area off from the main bedroom. The hotel is new and everything is to a high standard. The room (deluxe king) was spacious with a drinks / mini bar station in the lobby area of the room, a dressing / hanging area, a wash basin area and a bath and wet room style shower behind a glass sceen. The loo is separate. The staff are efficient and helpful and are always there when you need them. The hotel sits conveniently above two underground stations near to the Government building which our room over looked. The basement of the hotel, on the same level as the stations (Ginza line, Marunouchi line and 2 others) contains a 7/11, a boulangerie and a pleasant cafe which we used for breakfast as the hotel only offered a set menu for around £40 each which was poor and overpriced compared to the extensive, delicious and £20 buffet on offer at the Conrad. It's a nice hotel with all a Tokyo 5* offers but there is better on offer in the city in terms of value, view and ambience.

Room Tip: The views are of the city / government buidlings. I would imagine they are all very well equipped as...
