“An excellent choice.Proof that a good Tokyo hotel does not have to be expensive”

I visit Tokyo every year and have stayed at the Kanda Comfort Hotel five times. In my opinion it is excellent value for money and a real 'find'. Rooms have always been very clean, hotel staff very polite and helpful (although their English is limited they will go out of their way to assist),location is secluded but good, a short walk to the Yamanote Kanda Station and a 15 minute walk from Tokyo Station, the free breakfast is plentiful and caters for Asian and Western tastes, free coffee from 15:00 to 24:00, self service laundry facilities, and free wireless in rooms and free internet use on hotel computer.

I have always enjoyed staying here, and think it is a perfect place to stay in Tokyo. However, it is very typically in the category of a Japanese 'business' hotel: the rooms and bathrooms are small and compact; you will need to purchase a television card to access English speaking channels, the lobby is in effect the breakfast area so there are only utilitarian tables and chairs for meetings or for sitting in during the day.

If you want luxury , a restaurant serving meals apart from breakfast, and lots of space you will not be happy here. If you want cleanliness, convenience, comfort and a very competitive price,Kanda Comfort is the place for you

“Thoroughly impressed & definitely will return repeatedly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

Excellent hotel with excellent staff. The free daily breakfast is tasty and sufficient. Kanda is a quieter location than Shinjuku or Roppongi. But this is the reason I chose this hotel. Kanda features nice quiet neighborhoods and this hotel's location exudes a distinctively Japanese feel. In particular, Kanda has several restaurants frequented by local businessmen and one really gets to see how locals behave and interact with each other. The food these restaurants offer is delicious and cheap, making dining experiences even more pleasant. Obviously, those who want the Shinjuku, Shibuya or Ginza experience would not like Kanda or this hotel. However, for those who want to catch an authentic glimpse of Japanese life and enjoy the food and company of the locals, Kanda is the ideal place. And Comfort Hotel Kanda is the ideal place to stay. I definitely will return to Kanda and Comfort Hotel Kanda.

“Comfortable Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2010

My partner and I stayed two nights in the Comfort Hotel Kanda , Initially we had a bit of a problem finding it, but once there it was quite easy to find our way around. The room (a twin) was roomy enough with tow good sized beds . The staff were helpful, and communication with most was easy . It is a very clean hotel , with good eateries around the area. Also Kanda being just one station away from JR Tokyo Station, it was no problem getting to other ares of Tokyo. A good ,comfortable Hotel at a reasonable price .

“Very Good Business Hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2009

The rooms are small but well laid out so one doesn't feel cramped. I looked at a floor plan near the lift and there seems to be one twin and one double room per floor. Beds are firm and comfortable. Our twin room had king singles, each about 1.3 metres wide. Flat screen TV, fridge and wardrobe are in a small alcove opposite the beds. The bathroom is a typical compact unit with sufficient room. The hotel and furnishings are as new.
Laundry, drink and ice machine are on the 2nd floor. Washing machine costs 200 yen, dryer 100 yen. Dryer runs for 30 minutes which was enought to dry our washing.
Complimentary breakfast of onegiri, inarisushi, soups, salad and breads is served in dining room opposite the front desk. Also by the front desk is a computer for free use of guests. A high speed internet laptop can be rented for 500 yen a night. Wireless internett is available.
The hotel is about a 2 minute walk from the station. The area is well sprinkled with small restaurants and convenience stores.

“Great budget hotel with very good free breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2009

The Comfort Kanda's greatest advantage is the price. The property is relatively new & it is of budget quality. However, it has all the basics (clean room, free in room LAN ready connection, LCD TV). In comparison to the 2 mid-priced Mystays Hotels I stayed in Kyoto & Fukuoka, the Comfort Kanda is lower on room finish quality & furnishings as well. It also lacks the trendiness of the Mystays.

The location is in a business area with very little attraction for tourists. There are a few restaurants near the JR Kanda Station (5-10 minutes walk). The Comfort Kanda does offer a very good free breakfast (the only 1 out of 4 hotels I stayed at in japan). The breakfast items include coffee, juice, various breads/cakes, various rice balls, banana, yogurt, various salads, & 2 types of soups. Plenty to fill you up.

I made my reservation via Choice Hotels' U.S. website & received a 50+ age discount. I reserved a single non-smoking room. The room had no smoke problems.

The Comfort kanda would be a very good choice If price is the most important consideration. While the location may not be the best, JR Kanda Station will connect you to any place you want to go in Tokyo.
