I don't agree with the last two commentators at all. I recently spent two nights in the hotel with two breakfasts and a dinner and the meals were very good value and presented to a high standard. The room I had was clean, warm and comfortable and the staff friendly and welcoming.
I will gladly return to the hotel and the restaurant when I am next in Markinch and judging by the number of repeat guests and local diners in the restaurant, so will many others.

I've stayed at The Town House Hotel on a number of occasions through business, and I could not believe some of the comments that have been written.

The hotel is without doubt the best in the area and you will find it hard to find somewhere that serves better food. The restaurant is always busy, which speaks for itself.

As well as the hotels 4 bedrooms which are warm, and comfortable, they have an executive let, which is exceptional! Super modern, clean and finished to the highest of standards. Not only do you provide you with continental breakfast in the house, they also allow you to come hotel (5 min walk) if you want to have a full scottish breakfast, which again is exceptional! The welcoming and friendly owner even offered to collected me by car.

I would highly recommend this hotel for a short stay, some of the comments on trip advisor are just ridiculous. This is a lovely hotel with an excellent restaurant. I will continue to book at the Town house when I'm back in the area.

Rude, abrupt and awful manner of the owner and the staff alike. They need to learn some manners as well as a level of customer service. Do not touch the executive lets - nice idea but watch out for the fact they don't show you any photos! Let's just say, the area has a LOT to be deisred and Ikea can't cover up everything. I have never in my life seen such a dump and experienced such rudeness for such an expensive place!!! Do NOT...repeat...DO NOT give these people any of your hard earned money!

I have ate here on numerous occasions and although service can be slow (even when it's very quiet there is a sense of panic in the staff ESP in the owner) and the owner can be abrupt it added entertainment value to an excellent meal. However my last experience was so awful and embaressing I will never go back. I have taken children there before and although they are not made to feel welcome they provide a kids menu and suitable drinks for children (although you have to guess what they might have in stock as they do not tell you). I arrived with my sister and my daughter and without so much as a good evening from the owner she told us we were not supposed to be here, we had a child with us, that we should not have booked a table for 3, and definitely should have mentioned it was 2 adults and one child, that we should have booked to eat earlier which was not an option due to having travelled 6 hours - so much for our treat! I said it was fine we didn't have to stay and that I would know in future never to book dinner here again. The restaurant was full but people were almost finished their meals and I think they had been hoping to finish early which was demonstrated in our choice to have salad with our dinner. Our plates were put down and we were told to go get our salad immediately which we didn't as we were still chatting and it was tidied up there and then so missed our chance for the salad. We felt very uncomfortable throughout our meal, we were not asked if we would like more to drink. Such a waste of our time and money. I will not be helping the town house to stay in business - very bad hospitality skills in a rude, patronising, hostile environment.
