My partner and I stayed for a week in March 2011. We arrived at about 9.45pm after flight and car rental delays to be met by night porter with very limited English, no food & bar closing at 10pm. The room (junior suite) was excellent - large, clean, comfortable & well-appointed - but although we booked a double room we were given twin room. It turns out that despite being advertised as ideal for romantic couples only one of the eighteen rooms is a double. Good facilities (pool, jacuzzi, steam room, gym, lots of peaceful, secluded areas to sit around the hotel gardens / grounds) set about 1km from the town of Arucas (shops, restaurants, few tourists), but very limited spoken English among staff - mainly German visitors with a sprinkling of other nationalities. Main disappointment was restaurant - cheerful, friendly hard working waiter was overwhelmed on his own. This rural Canarian hotel could have offered Canarian dishes and specialities, but instead offered a very limited menu of common European dishes - OK, but unimaginative, so we ate out. Also, you have to book by 1pm if you want dinner. Breakfast was plentiful but repetitive - same thing every morning. Little or no soundproofing between the rooms!
1) If arriving after 9pm, make your own dinner arrangements prior to arrival
2) Car essential.
3) Don't expect fluent English amongst staff
4) Bed arrangements make a romantic break less - how can I put it - practical?
Overall a very enjoyable stay, but could have been much better with a few simple changes.
