On arriving at the hotel I was abit took back by the cleanliness of the room but after a couple of days and living in the real world . INDIA . Everything was fine . There was no tv or fridge but your on holiday in India so why would you want to spend time in your room ?
The room itself was very basic , bed , table and wardrobe . Bathroom sink shower and toilet could do with a good clean but all did there jobs . Rooms were cleaned every other day , clean sheets and towels were also supplied . All the staff from the cleaners to the reception to the bar an waiter staff were absolutely brilliant , nothing was too much trouble for them , all polite and very nice people . The pool was great , cleaned every morning and chloryned every night , We didnt spend alot of time in the hotel throughout the day but whenever we returned the hotel the pool was great to cool off in , no sunbed hoggers and most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. Food at the restaurant attached onto the hotel was great , We ate there quite regularly and were very satisfied with the menu , service and the food , I would definately recommend the peppered steak . The hotel is in a great location on the main road shops , restaurants and bars are all around ,If you come out of the hotel and turn right , follow the road up to the roundabout and keep right up past the church , keep walking you will come to SHOFAZ a great supermarket on the opposite side to the church ,were you can buy anything you will need or youve forget to pack , cheap . The beach is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel , be prepared to see cows everywhere on the road on the path and on the beach .Beach sellers do harasss you but no harm in them , just offer them a silly price and stick to it or tell them macka nacka . Dont be surprised to see beggars just ignore them . Tuktuks are really cheap we payed 150 rps from colva to madigo but the bus is even cheaper , 10 rps each and can be caught anywhere you see it . We got the bus into madigo from there onto Panjim 25rps each , then from panjim to calangute 12rps each . We spent the day there up north but much prefered the south although we did go back the 2nd week for another day . Scooter hires great fun for £2 a day but do be careful , we stuck to the back roads which were fine and we saw loads of different villages and beaches . TIP Peep lots and only stop when you have to ! ! ! lol
We went on a morning dolphin trip from the beach but didnt see any but it was well worth the price for the boat trip . We also got the train upto Hampi ( a 9 hour ride ) and stayed there for 2 nights . Trains had to be prebooked for the trip though at Madigo station . The spice plantation is a must , we also did the elephant wash which is FANTASTIC and is right next to the plantation . All in all the holiday was amazing, we would recommend india and this hotel to anyone . We will certainly return there ourselves .
