“Quality budget hotel in perfect location for beach and town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011 via mobile

Stayed here in Oct 2011. Hotel rooms are small but well equipped. Bathrooms are spacious and look like they belong to higher class hotels. The hotel is clean, staff friendly, English speaking. Free coffee is a bonus. Breakfast selection is limited but perfectly ample, and best of all, included. The location is fantastic. Short walk to the beach and the town and restaurants.

“Small and Proffessional”

We arrived vey late to find that reception is manned by a night porter and were sent next door to their sister hotel. He booked us in and because the room we had booked was unavailable we were given the junior suite. This room is only different by the fact it has a single room as well as a double. After 2 days we were moved to another room at the front of the hotel which we found slighlty noiser than the room we had been given previously at the back. We were then given a room at the back. The rooms are small but very clean and bright and the fact that there is no charge for the safe and free use of the mini bar which we were not aware of when we checked in. The hotel is perfectly placed as mentioned in earlier reviews and we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: The back overlooks a court yard and is quiet.

“Great Location”

All round, an ideal base for a short break in Alicante. Running parallel with the main promenade, one street back, it's location is a mere 100metres from the beach. In the opposite direction, it is a mere 100metres from the start of a superb selection of bars and restaurants. If you care to take the C-6 bus from Alicante airport, (at 2.65 euros each person, it represents good value for the 30 minute ride!!), the bus-stop is just around the corner on the main promenade, 50 metres from the hotel front door.
The hotel itself is on the small side with only 22 rooms. The rooms themselves are smallish, but the bathrooms are fine and functional. The air-conditioning works fine, the hotel is extremely clean and quiet and overall is the ideal location for a short break.
Breakfast is typical "continental", with breads, ham, cheese, fruit etc, but more than enough to set you up for the day. NO HOT FOOD is served.
I would recommend this for a short stay because it is not your typical "holiday" hotel, with balconies, a massive restaurant or a pool.
All in all, an enjoyable stay for 3 nights/4 days and would certainly go back.

Room Tip: Don't know if the rooms differ in any way, so I can't comment.

“Pleasantly suprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

So, at the airport we were issued with a map of Alicante with "all the hotels" on - slightly disturbed to find Gravina Cinco wasn't on it! Navigated into Alicante on the shuttle bus from the airport and very quickly and easily found the hotel (literally round the corner from the last stop - look for Sol Inn on the map, it's next door).

Gravina is clean and tidy from the outside, and spacious, clean and airy on the inside. Receptionist was slightly aloof (surly on a bad day), but checked us in with minor fuss. Room was a good size, and was immaculately clean. We were at the front of the hotel so had a small balcony - views aren't spectacular (think multiple parked mopeds and a recycling point although we really weren't in Alicante to skulk around a room for a few days), and as the air con wasn't the world's most powerful is was necessary to keep the balcony door open overnight, therefore making us aware of a bit of noise late night (to be honest we didn't find it enough of a problem to bother mentioning to the staff).

Breakfast was more than adequate, breads, cheese, ham, yoghurt, fruit and pastries with coffee and juice (no, there was no fry up, but this is Spain, it is hot, and besides, this is how they do it!) and there was always plenty of everything (even when we came down 20 mins before the end of breakfast time).

Room service was excellent and all the other reception staff were more than obliging - pointing us in the direction of activites in the rain, posting post cards for us, arranging late check out with no fee. There is a "Telepizza" room service offered which we made use of once - external company who deliver to your room with a contract with Tryp group - simple to use, we called reception who placed the order for us and food was there within 30 mins.

All in all we were really happy with our stay, the hotel is in an excellent position for the beach (1.5 mins walk away), the old town with all its cafes, bars and restaurants (30 secs walk away), bus stop (1 min walk away), tram stop (1.5 mins walk away) and castle.

“Great Hotel and Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2011

Stayed for 3 nights early March. Located centrally, close to old part of Alicante, shops, beach, tram and airport shuttle. Did not experience any noise level from the bar next door. Great value for money. Staff very friendly and helpfull. The rooms had everything we needed, very clean + free mini bar with soft drinks and water, tea and coffee breakfast included. The best rooms are on the front of hotel they have small balcony. I would use this hotel again.
