This is the third time I've stayed in Porta Maris this last year and experienced all room types. My first stay was in a Suite and I must say the room was just superb! Spacious and the fun experience of taking a shower with seaview. Second time I stayed in a normal double room and missed the spaciousness but the room had the same modern design. Just last week I took a single room, but didnot really think much of it. I was hoping there would be a queen size bed but there were 2single beds and I haven't slept in a single bed since i was a kid so really didnot appreciate much.
This doesn't mean I won't return because all rooms have a nice design and great sea or port views. Try asking for a room on the higher levels so you don't get stuck with the casino lights infront of your windows if you're on the port side.
Breakfast also is really worth it and staff professional.

We made our second visit to this hotel at the end of March. We stayed 4 nights in a Junior Suite.
Location: Excellent, the hotel is located on a spit between the Marina and the sea; rooms have a view of one or the other. Bars, restaurants, and shops are a 5 minute stroll away as is the town beach and the promenade.

Room: The room was divided into 2 areas, sleeping and living. There was a sliding door to separate the two. The beds (large twins pushed together) were firm and comfortable and there is a pillow menu from which to choose. The living area contained a table and two chairs; a 3 seater sofa and coffee tables; TV; coffee/tea making facilities; Iron and ironing board; minibar and ample storage space. The bathroom was a decent size and had entrances from both areas. A good sized balcony contained 2 sunlounger chairs and a further table. We were on the sea side of the hotel and had a view of the bay of Alicante, the castle and the town.

Breakfast: A breafast area with the same beautiful views. All the usual breakfast choices, the hot options being well cooked. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel, but we did not use it.

Staff - all the staff that we came in contact with were friendly and helpful.

There are also Spa facilities in the hotel, entry to which were complimentary to guests in Junior suites. We didn't use that facility so cannot comment on quality, but for someone who wanted to use the Spa the extra cost of a Junior suite would be offset.

All in all another pleasant stay in a good quality hotel, and good value for money.

I booked this hotel for a 1 night visit to Alicante with my two bridesmaids. The hotel is in a great location with lovely views and only a very short walk to the restaurants and bars. It has a lovely reception area, the staff were extremley helpful and friendly. The room was spotless and fairly spacious to say that there were 3 women staying in the same room. Breakfast the next day was delicious. would certainly recommend to friends and family and will definitely book again when we return.

We always stay at the Suites Del Mar, in a suite, the rooms are beautifully furnished with a super king sized bed and separate lounge area. Views are stunning and only a 2 minute walk to the pier with ample restuarants. There is a large market on weekends with fabulous fresh fruit. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Spa facilites including pool and gym are free of charge for guests in the suites.
The only downside is the lack of milk or creamer provided although tea and coffee making facilities are in the rooms
