Stayed here at the end of Jun-08 for 6 nights. This is probably the cheapest hotel in Alicante with a really good location! However, before you book a word of caution because I booked on the back of the recommendations made on tripadvisor and in my opinion (just my opinion), I think they are just a little overstated. So here is my experience:
Room - our room was at the back of the hotel, you go down these corridors which are dull (kind of a "hostel" feeling to them) and echo alot. The actual room was dated. Needs a good revamp, but it was clean. Apart from the balcony which overlooked a wall (yes a wall) and had bird's droppings all over it (so we never used the balcony!). The air con didn't work at first but credit to the hotel, maintenance came up quickly. The door to the balcony needed to be closed for the air con to work- however it was very very very sensitive so even when it was closed you had to really push it together - the sensor must have been not long enough. This was very annoying. What was written by other reviewers is true, the air con comes is regulated by the hotel so you dont have control when you'd like to have it on. Again, annoying... and did i mention the plastic sheets?
Staff - Staff were ok, I didn't find them overly friendly (like I did at Mar Blau in Benidorm) - by that I mean they didn't go out their way to make you happy but they were nice enough when asked questions.
Food - breakfast was a little minimal - just bread/croissant as i recall and yoghurt. No cereal, no fruit. It was in the bar next to the hotel which wasn't that nice and i would have never have gone to except you had to for breakfast. On the weekend it was in another room which was alot better. I said to my wife that they should have it there all the time instead of that bar.
I think on holiday you want to feel a little special - a getaway from your normal life, but you want to feel comfortable too.
I could sleep anywhere really, but the "comfortability" factor only was ok. In the afternoon we'd have liked to come back to the hotel and sleep for a couple hours then go out again in the evening. However, we'd think about the room and think, "ok lets stay out and only go there to sleep".
And thats the key, if you only looking for somewhere to rest your head at night, a good location at a cheap price, Leuka is for you.
If you looking for more comfortability (somewhere you could come back and sleep abit in the afternoon, chill out in, etc), spend a little more money. You get what you pay for!
