“not good but not bad either...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Two nights in a cheap 'n cheerful hotel, pretty well located in the centre of Town. Very helpful staff, happy to accomodate swarms of travelling Scots (Scotland v Spain that week) but no hiding a pretty basic 70's-style hotel.
Faults? Well, they were grim little rooms with balconys facing the street if you were lucky and the side of the adjacent building if you weren't. No wi-fi in the rooms - the signal didn't reach there - but it was free to pick up in the dinky reception area. The four person lift gives up after three people step inside and the street outside can be a bit noisy at times.
Plus's? Good air-con and fan, powerful shower (though one of the smallest I've ever encountered!) and it is clean.
Would I go there again? For £40 a night in a the centre of a great City like this, yeah why not!

“Ok for a place to sleep in a lovely town”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011 via mobile

Pleasant enough staff on reception, helpful. Tatty decor only to be expected in a 2 star place (cheap) but could have been cleaner. Clean sheets/towels bathroom clean enough. But balcony filthy didnt look like it had been brushed or mopped for months. Breakfast ok though. Warm coissants, coffee, orange juice, bread, some cold meats, hot baked beans and hard boiled eggs. Waitress not very smiley. I asked if there were any croissants as the basket was empty, she re- filled then came and checked the room number on my key?! I heard a guest ask for more tea bags, after been abruptly told there were none, she checked her room key number. Air conditioning broken in our room. Non smoking room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and air freshener on arrival. The room was hot so smell of smoke from off bedding got stronger as night went on. Room ceiling fan worked but very noisey so hard to sleep. Electrical socket next to my sons bed hanging off the wall. Tv broken too. Alicante lovely place. Hotel about 15-20 min walk into town downhill but uphill back again. We got taxi back of a night about 6e. Would reccomend for young couples/friends who just want no frills place to sleep, not with children/elderly though.

“very basic spanish hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

we booked into the goya just for one night, after a late flight into alicante, and we were glad it was just one night.
this is a very basic hotel, not somewhere we would like to spend our weeks holiday.
very lumpy mattresses and air con only on for certain lengths of time ( not right thru night when you need it most to sleep in the heat)
It did appear to be a clean hotel, but the bathroom was so small you couldnt turn round in it, and the shower cubicle was so tiny.
the man on reception was a right grump, no interaction whatsoever, didnt actually speak when we checked out.
all in all, we would spend a few more euro's and find another hotel in alicante.

Room Tip: dont get room 101, ( thats where it deserves to go)

“Just what you pay for”

Good location, friendly staff.
Brasserie downstairs not bad. coffee quality v.good, which is important for me in the morning.
Even with my poor Spanish I managed to get stuffed in the brasserie for silly money.
Its good value if you do not plan to spend your time in the hotel, which I exactly did. Was coming back for rest and to refresh myself.
Staff friendly and helpful. Location v. convenient.
