“Great location at the beach”

Even if the hotel is not located in downtown Alicante it is a good choice when staying in Alicante. It's easy to take the bus or tram to downtown and a taxi at night does not cost so much. You have a great beach next to the hotel with a lot of bars and restaurants.
The hotel is good but not first class. Great breakfast with good choices. Something we Scandinavian likes.

“Always excellent Sidi San Juan”

As usual, nothing was other than excellent. This was our 5th visit I think. We have booked our flight for September - with Monarch of course, this hotel is certainly not for the easyjet tattooed hoards and thank goodness they stay elsewhere!!

The hotel staff were superb - and of course they love it when we speak in Spanish to them.

My wife was ill for the last day and so we had to postpone our return flight - no problem with Monarch. We were allowed to keep our room for one extra day at no extra charge.

There were some very fat Germans who would steal food from the breakfast buffet - theye didn't know that they were being photographed!

“Worth a visit for the location and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2011

We are just back from another trip to this hotel. Excellent points - breakfast buffet was just incredible, with very good staff and an excellent chef that will make you any omlette that you like, the location is literlly "on the beach" with direct secure access down to the beach from the hotel, it was quiet and peaceful (in winter-time anyhow), overall all the staff we came across were very friendly and very professional, in particular the bar-staff and breakfast staff. We also asked to move rooms and were offered a bigger room at no additional cost.

The value was also very good, for a hotel in such a good location and excellent service. We paid €95/night for a family of 3.

The hotel is 2 minutes walk from a beautiful promenade of about 10KM where you can either walk along a very wide pedestrian promenade or along the water on the sand - very beautiful and relaxing.

Some points for consideration - the "fine-dining" restaurant should not have charged for hot milk for our child's bottle and the hotel should not charge for the security safe or parking.

Overall we like the hotel, the experience was again very positive and we will look forward to coming back again.

“An Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2010

This is not the first time I have stayed at this excellent hotel nor will it be the last. This establishment ticks all the boxes and in low season (such as November) it is very reasonably priced indeed. Mind you it has a 5 Star rating so you'd expect it to be reasonably good but tthis hotel ruly deserves each and every one of them. Due to some very clever architecture all of the rooms have a sea view with a balcony and the rooms themselves are spotless. Breakfast is available up to a very civilised 10.30am which allows for a nice lazy morning sleep-in particularly if like me you're up at 5.45am. on a normal working weekday. The choice of food is varied catering for all tastes.
At the risk of sounding like an absolute snob, from my observations the hotel appears to be very popular with middle class (and dare I say it, for the most part middle aged) Germans and English people who have a shrewd eye for good value. Some parents with young families but no late teen or early twenties revellers. If all night partying is your scene then this hotel is probably not for you.
The hotel is situated a good 20 to 25 minute drive from Alicante itself which may account for this. There is an excellent " free" shuttle bus service provided by the hotel for visitors but the last pick up is quite early at about 10.30pm. My partner and I used this service several times and it was a great way to meet and chat with some of the other guests. In any case there are any amount of taxies and also a bus and tram service a short ten minute walk from the hotel. Alicante itself is quite fabulous with superb restaurants and wine bars. If you're in the area I highly recommend Sale & Pepe Pizzeria and Italian Wine Bar. It's specialises in the most amazing Pizza prepared in an authentic Italian Pizza oven but the restaurant also provides a large range of other Italian dishes. Be warned....Most of the good restaurants don't even open before 7.30pm. This restaurant was recommended to my wife and I by an American living in the area and we enjoyed it so much we returned three times in our five day visit.
The hotel Sidi San Juan has excellent indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a reasonable sized gym. It has access to a beautiful beach and the staff are excellent. It's really hard to find fault with this particular hotel and if it's a quiet relaxing break you'd like then this is the one for you.

People on reception were very helpful .I found in the resturant food was very poor & never hot had to keep on sending it back went half board ended up changing to just bed & breakfast staff not very good in there.Breakfast was a buffet not that great neither. Hotel very clean and in a nice position beach was nice too, very expensive in hotel for a gin/tonic it was 10 euros Not much around hotel you can walk along the promonade which was nice not many shops in the area some bars & resturants on the front & promonade . This hotel is rated a 5* it is more of a 3*.
