I just returned from a school trip with a group of students to northern Spain, to include the Basque Country. We spent two nights at Hotel Lintzirin and got little to no sleep. The walls are thin, thin, thin - we could hear people snoring, talking, and doing other things, both on our floor and the floor below us. It is on a very busy road with lots of trucks and cars. Not an attractive place at all. It is about 8 kms., 1 Euro, and 30 minutes away from San Sebastian by way of the local bus which stops right next to the hotel. Last bus out of San Sebastian to the hotel is at about 9:30 pm from Plaza Guipuzcoa. If late night fun is a part of your plans, take a cab back to the hotel.
The people at the hotel are all very pleasant but unable to do anything about the noise level. My room was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower very good. The hotel bar serves excellent coffee and wonderful pastries in the morning. There is a large (hipermercado) store right behind the hotel that some of the students enjoyed browsing. Some of us opted to go into the city on our own for a few hours and absolutely loved that. Donostia is the crown jewel of the Basque Country (in my opinion) and I recommend staying in the city if at all possible. Hotel Lintzirin is well intentioned, but not the place to stay if you really want to enjoy your visit to San Sebastian and also sleep at night so you can do it all over again the next day!
