“Last resort”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2006

Like they all said, and I neglected to read, the place is a resort of last resorts! It's probably available and the rate posted at the hotel was the same, if not less, than the "great deal" Igot on the web.

Might be OK in the winter as the location is convenient to the freeway, BECAUSE IT"S ON IT!

Enjoy the region, it's great!

“Its so loud and hot here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2006

This is a great hotel.... if you don't like to sleep. I had to use earplugs to survive the loud honking of horns from the highway. The doors in the room did help with keeping the room somewhat cold. Don't ask the front desk people about air conditioning, they have probably said No over and over. The food was great, and very tasty. Overall. not good for sleeping.

“No Air Conditioning!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2006

The hotel is located on a busy highway along rest stop. It had NO airconditioning, requiring sliding door to remain open to highway traffic and train. Bathroom door did not close. Had and ok breakfast selection, not for dinner. The walls were very thin and had to basically whisper when making phone calls. Not an attractive place.

  • Liked — The room was reasonably spacious
  • Disliked — The noise from the highway and train
  • Tips/Secrets — Do not expect air conditioning!

“When Visiting Donostia, Stay in Donostia”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2006

I just returned from a school trip with a group of students to northern Spain, to include the Basque Country. We spent two nights at Hotel Lintzirin and got little to no sleep. The walls are thin, thin, thin - we could hear people snoring, talking, and doing other things, both on our floor and the floor below us. It is on a very busy road with lots of trucks and cars. Not an attractive place at all. It is about 8 kms., 1 Euro, and 30 minutes away from San Sebastian by way of the local bus which stops right next to the hotel. Last bus out of San Sebastian to the hotel is at about 9:30 pm from Plaza Guipuzcoa. If late night fun is a part of your plans, take a cab back to the hotel.
The people at the hotel are all very pleasant but unable to do anything about the noise level. My room was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower very good. The hotel bar serves excellent coffee and wonderful pastries in the morning. There is a large (hipermercado) store right behind the hotel that some of the students enjoyed browsing. Some of us opted to go into the city on our own for a few hours and absolutely loved that. Donostia is the crown jewel of the Basque Country (in my opinion) and I recommend staying in the city if at all possible. Hotel Lintzirin is well intentioned, but not the place to stay if you really want to enjoy your visit to San Sebastian and also sleep at night so you can do it all over again the next day!

“Not Recommended”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2005

My impression of this hotel is very similar to person who posted "Hot Nights in the Lintzirin". I wouldn't stay there again.

First, on the plus side: the people working behind the desk were helpful and all but one could speak some English. The pintxos (tapas) at the bar were very good and the bartenders friendly. Many locals go to the bar in the evenings and for breakfast and/or coffee in the mornings. There is a very large grocery store with great selection located right behind the hotel.

The two main drawbacks of the hotel are how loud it is and its surroundings. It's located in an unattractive area (lots of concrete and dirty office buildings) along a very busy street. The location and feel of the place in general were disappointing considering the beauty of the surrounding countryside. The walls (both interior and exterior) of the hotel are very thin - possibly the thinnest of any hotel I've stayed in. We could hear the people staying in rooms beside us and also down the hall and, even with our windows closed, the traffic zooming by outside. Since this is an area where people are out 'til 3 and 4 am, you're going to hear them through the thin walls coming back at those hours. Additionally, the locks on the room doors (not deadbolts - just a simple lock & key) are such that people would have to slam their doors when leaving to get them to shut (no one seemed to bother putting their key in the lock, turning it and closing the door quietly) - the noise echoed down the halls and through the thin walls all night and morning long. A lot of sleep was lost at this place.

We seriously regretted not heeding the advice from the previous person - avoid the restaurant. Though it may seem convenient, the food is really, really bad - very similar to airline food (my impression is that it's most likely frozen food).
