“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Stayed here one night before catching the ferry. Very nice hotel with great view across the river from our room. The room was spacious & clean and staff very helpful. A lovely meal in the bar, fantastic value. You must go on a trip across the river on the gondola, some nice bars over there. Breakfast is expensive; but nearby cafes do all you need.
Ferry terminal is a leisurely 15 minute drive.

Room Tip: Shop around & ask for one overlooking the river.

“Very good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

Stayed there for some 3 days due to strikes going on transportaiton etc. . Hotel is right next to the Vizcaya bridge. It is a little bit far from the city center but very close to the train station. Also Portugalete is a very good location itself. I do not know what days exactly but a local market is opened in front of the hotel with fresh vegetables, fruits flowers etc.

Hotel was really clean and rooms were very large. My room was on the top floor and got an opening to the roof balcony from where the bridge and the canal was visible. It was lovely & quite..

“Nicely Located Hotel, next to Transporter Bridge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

Nice hotel with river views over the river . Next to famous bridge.
Situated close to old town with many little bars and restaurants.I enjoy staying here.

Always ask for a special discount rate if booking directly, they often offer a few euros as an incentive...

Its a funny place, not much to do in the town itself but makes a change from staying in Bilbao, and its nice to be right on the river, and next to a swimming pool / sports hall for the more energetic.

Even a walk along the river to the end of the jetty counts as a little exercise and helps work up an appetite.

Breakfast:
Reasonably good cold breakfast cereals, fruit, bacon ham etc.
More than adequate start to the day.

Rooms:
Rooms nicely apopointed with nice size en-suite.
Aircon a little noisy and limited effect!

Bar:
Lively with locals and tasty Tapas, though to be honest a more authentic experience could be got from one of the smaller bars nearby.

Restaurant:
I didn't try it but it got good reviews from a couple I was talking to.

Business:

WIFI is free and has good coverage.
No business suite, but they very helpful at the front desk if you need anything!

Car Parking:
Is secure underground at a cost of 15 Euros a night which I think is a bit excessive given the only way to get here is by car.

“Good hotel at the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2007

This hotel is really a good bargain. At 60 EUR we had a fantastic, quiet room - newly refurbished, modern but very cosy. The hotel is just next to the Puente Colgante which is a special bridge with a gondol for cars and passengers. We tried to cross the bridge in several ways - on foot in the gondol, on the walkway at the top (scary!), by boat and with our car in the gondol. Crossing the river is quite cheap and worth the trip to the Portugalete/Getxo area. The hotel has a small restaurant with outside serving with tapas and drinks.

“OK hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2006

Pretty nice hotel, helpful desk staff, rooms slightly dated. In front is the river (with the transporter bridge and a promenade (no cars). The restaurant was fine and the bar lively. The hotel was pretty tricky to find though - as there was very little signposting from Bilbao and also when we got to Portugalete. Parking is under the hotel to the left as you approach the hotel from the rear, up a short alleyway.
