We booked this hotel through a travel agency in Sweden and there were Travellers Hotel absolute best prices on Bamburi Beach.
First shorthly about the beach, Bamburi Beach Indian Ocean.
It is a windy beach, which is nice because the climate in Mombasa is very hot.
The sea is protected by a coral reef which provides tide and you can not always swim in the sea. But this means that the ocean is by far the hottest I've ever gone swimming in, very nice I must say.
A major drawback of the beach are the so-called "Beach Boys" hanging right on the downturn towards the shore and immediately want to do business with you. They are very difficult to get rid of. Their business idea is that you should believe that you become friends with them.
A major drawback is that if you agree a price and then pays you raise the price without any real reason. I have traveled a lot and live in a world's most multicultural cities but have never experienced things like this behavior before.
But this local business behavior is not something you can accuse Travelers Hotel, we saw no such trends in the hotel.
Instead, my girlfriend and I were impressed by all the advantages which the hotel offered.
To name one thing that the hotel has its own taxis running around the clock at great prices.
The breakfast buffet is very tasteful and offers everything you can imagine.
There is also dinner buffet and also it's good, even if it gets a little too like if you eat at the hotel every night.
A disadvantage is that the hotel staff treats dress code differently depending on whether you are male or female, something that bothered me a lot in the beginning.
Would also like to say that our female waitress was very good and quickly got a good overview of who we were and what we estimated.
The hotel was thoroughly cleaned every day. The cleaners were friendly welcome and the day I was hung over and asked them to wait so this was no problem for them, which I appreciated very much!
Pool area was always clean and we never experienced any congestion on the sun loungers. At the pool there was a snack bar for smaller meals or drinks for good prices.
We got the impression before we got to the hotel, the Wi-Fi would be free, it was unfortunately not the case, but it cost 1000 KES (about 10 €) for 24 hour access. This connection was also very slow, to put a picture on Facebook for example, could take many attempts and up to half an hour.
Almost all of the staff were friendly and were always on hand and was helpful and gave a good impression of the hotel.
The hotel is beautiful, both the building and the area itself. So I can really recommend this hotel if you get a good price to stay here.
