“Always a warm welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

We have stayed at the Cross Keys many times whilst visiting the Borders of Scotland.
Host Kathleen is always friendly and welcoming, and the rooms are spotless.
The village is pretty and peaceful, the only noises you are likely to hear are the church bells!
Breakfast is delicious with a choice of full English or a lighter option.
We have sampled other establishments in the area but much prefer the hospitality of Cross Keys.

“SIMPLY THE BEST”

We have walked many a mile and stayed in a multitude of Pubs and Guest Houses whilst completing several long distance walks but we have never been looked after before in the way that Kathleen accomodated us. The last stage of the Pennine Way is notoriously difficult to plan but she sorted it all out for us acting as our guide and taxi driver. For a small charge she picked us up at some god forsaken place half way along the route from Byrness and then took us back there the next day. Her place is superb. very clean and tidy with large spacious en suite rooms, a brilliant hearty breakfast and splendid packed lunches all at a very reasonable price. The icing on the cake is that the wonderful Border Hotel is just across the village green. . Kathleen I salute you

“Great place to stay”

We stayed here while walking the St Cuthberts Way. The owner made us feel very welcome even though we arrived very late after a long day walking, the room was clean and spacious with a private bathroom, a comfy bed, biscuits, and even a mat to put muddy hiking boots on. The breakfast was great and the home made chutney in the packed lunch sandwiches was wonderful. We'll definitely stay there if we visit Kirk Yetholm again.

“Excellent accomodation and friendly welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

We were agroup of 4 lady walkers and this was by far the most comfortable and welcoming place we stayed during our walk. The rooms were tastefully furnidshed and spotlessly clean as was the ensuite. Comfortable beds and quiet location. Owner was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent and so well presented and served. Packed lunches great and very welcome when we were perched on top of the Cheviot hills. One of the best places we have stayed during our many walks.

“Home comforts and more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

I stayed just one night at this delightful B&B while walking St Cuthbert's Way. I would certainly go back again and thoroughly recommend it to others. Ideally situated by the village green, it had everything needed by a walker (good shower, comfortable bed, matting for boots, custard creams!) and the owner added her warm and helpful personality without being intrusive.
