On our day of arrival we received a warm welcom by the fireplace with a cup of coffee. The famillyroom was big and had a tasteful design. The Chateau is situated about 10 km from the historic city of Autun. Especially we liked the road trip from Autun through the winefields to Beaune. But also nearby the chateau you can make very nice walkingtour in the beautiful area. Mark and Esmeralde (the hosts) where very friendly and are willing to give you tips for walkingtours and excursions in the region. Our boys (5, and 7 years old) enjoyed themselves by playing around the Chateau. Mark one the hosts take them even out for a ride on his tractor. On our next tour through France we will certainly try to visit Cheateau Savilly again.

My husband surprised me with a four day stay in this burgundy charming castle, we were married 10 years and just the evening before departure, I was notified by him. For me the second time in the Burgundy.
In one word: great, great, great. Although the photo's at their website don't lie about what to expect, the 'real thing' is just a lot more beautiful in reality. One morning, the breakfast was at the outside terras and despite it was not so warm, the morning sun without the wind, made it feel warm enough. The owners were more than friendly, but did not intrude our private party, just as we liked it. The total experience convinced us quite easily to go back next year.

We stayed at the Chateau December 2 to 5th 2008. My wife, son and daughter-in law accompanied us on the trip to France. We booked and stayed at four other Chateau's (which were very nice) however, there is something magical about Chateau Savilly.

When we started to do our booking with Mark over the internet I had a good feeling about what we would experience. The minute we drove up to the front door I felt that friendly nature of the Chateau. Mark and Esmerelda are wonderful hosts. They cooked a beautiful dinner for us on the first evening. We dined in a very romantic dining room with the fire place and candles
providing the calming light. The food was excellent along with the wine.

The first morning we woke up to a winter wonderland, it had snowed about 2 cm overnight. The only colours nature displayed to us was a blanket of white covering a bed of green.

We would very much like to visit the Chateau during the other seasons to experience the tranquility of each season.

We stayed 5 days in France (the Burgundy) in Chateau de Savilly. We had a very pleasant time there. The chateau is beautiful and situated on a nice spot. The interior is very nice decorated, with attention for every detail. The hosts are friendly and willing to give you tips for excursions in the region. At thursday evening we enjoyed the table d'hote: we had a very good diner.
Nearby you can visit Autun, Beaune and Dijon. And it is possible to walk and fish in Parc du Morvan. But also near the chateau you can make nice walking-trips. And of course the region is known for its excellent wines. You can visit the so called 'caves' and tast different wines. Conclusion: Chateau de Savilly is well worth a visit!!
