We stayed at La Sonrisa for the last two nights of our Italian trip. The rooms were lavish (if a little OTT) but the in-room facilities were well below expectations of 5 star. I'm not sure if we were the only overnight guests on our second night-there certainly seemed to be only one table set for breakfast -but we were certainly amongst company on both evenings! Two of the biggest weddings I have ever seen were held on both nights of our stay; the downside being that the hotel was extremely noisy and the beautiful grounds were constantly full of brides, grooms and guests enjoying photo opps- the upside that we were witness to some of the best fireworks we've ever seen.

Although La Sonrisa doesn't stand up to usual 5 star standards, the staff are extremely cordial (instead of finding hidden extras on our bill we had items removed such as a bottle of wine which were 'presents' from the hotel), good value for money and I would recommend one night there just for the experience (go and you'll see what I mean!)

The hotel was by far the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed at, and really I can't say a bad word about it. Staff were really friendly and the drinks at the bar were suprisingly cheap (6 euros for a beer and a glass of wine) and the views were lovely from our balcony. The only problem, which we didn't find out till we got there, was that it was no where near Pompeii, which we thought it was. A 30 Euro fee in the Taxi was a big surprise. Still it was def worth it, just wish we had more time there... and a car.
