“Best parador we've stayed in”

Paradores can be 'uneven' in the their quality of service, we have found, but this one is very good. We arrived somewhat jaded from a long drive but the welcome from the girl on reception was wonderful and we immediately relaxed. In fact all the staff were good. This is one of the old paradores sitting high up looking out on wonderful views in every direction, and it has been beautifully converted and furnished. We had a Junior suite which was large and comfortable with views in two directions.

The restaurant is good and the staff are attentive - not always the case in paradores. We had a good dinner and an excellent breakfast.

Recommended.

“Quality at a sensible price!”

Yet another lovely Parador and a wonderful village location. We stayed here 2 nights as part of a week's touring package. The only criticisms we could possibly have are that the room was slightly smaller than the ones in our other Paradors and they do make a surcharge for food and drink consumed on the outside terrace!

“Nice but dead”

Stayed there in mid June and found the hotel to be very good with a nice room with great view, comfy bed etc. Food was also good and the town itself was completely dead apart from one or two bar / restaurants. I think they must all be holiday lets or something because we only saw one or two locals scurrying around!
Compared to the Parador we stayed at in Viehla it was the better of the two.

“Surprisingly Cosy!!”

Stayed at this hotel for one night on the way to Pamplona and San Sebastian. The historic small town of Sos Del Rey Catolico sits on a hill and the hotel is right before the entrance into town. It was very quiet when we were there and the check-in staff took care of us in a heartbeat. We were given two coupons redeemable at the hotel bar. Despite the spartan lobby, everywhere else in the hotel was beautifully done. Our room was clean and it didn't look a day old. It looked like it was recently redone with flat screen TV and new wooden furniture. Our room had a view of the plain below and the evening sun made the view so much more scenic. There was also a very nice lounge on the floor with the bar and the restaurant. We didn't eat at the restaurant for dinner but we did have breakfast and it was certainly much better than we expected. Service was swift and very friendly. Food was extremely edible.

The evening of our arrival, we ventured into town and it was certainly postcard picture perfect. Since it was cold, no one was out and about and we literally had the entire small town to ourselves. We walked along the cobbled streets without a map and we accidentally walked into the compound of a small cathedral where upon walking further up the hill we chanced upon a tower and a small park, and from there, we had a nice view of the entire town. Simply unforgettable.

Of the three parador-s (bielsa, la seu d'urgell and sos del rey catolico) we stayed, this was by far the best.

“A beautiful location for a quiet rest”

My wife and I were badly in need of a quiet break and decided hopefully on Sos after reading reviews. If you want to go back in time to a slower pace, this village is close to ideal and the Parador fits in relatively unobtrusively. Although we initially had problems with the air-conditioning, after mentioning this to the very helpful Manager, the problem was immediately sorted out to our entire satisfaction. The only disappointing aspect was the food and service in the restaurant, but I understand that this is now being sorted out. For a quiet week of relaxation, we would definitely go back.
