We arrived to a complete construction zone and had to park almost 1km in the town and walk to the hotel with our bags. When we finally arrived they had no record of the booking and no room available. I was made to wait for six hours in the lobby while they sorted out their own mistake. This hotel is absolutely terrible, you would have to pay me (alot!) to stay here again.

I stayed here for a conference / retreat. The surrounding area is quaint and rural, but beautiful. My room was recently renovated and reminded me of an upscale lodge. The village of Grassau is n easy walk for a better selection of restaurants and Biergartens. Staff bends over backwards to make your stay pleasant (so much for the German standoffishness I had been warned about). I would gladly stay here again to visit the surrounding area.

We have just returned from a beautiful weekend at the Sporthotel Achental. From the outside the hotel looks somewhat dated...but only at very fist sight! Once you're inside the hotel turns out to be a perfectly well-kept and charming place. Our room was very spacious, clean and convenient (we had room 334). A bit disappointing was the view from our window/balcony towards the hotel's second large building...instead of the beautiful landscape which sorrounds the hotel. But this wasn't a problem.
The first evening we ate dinner at the hotel and opted for the buffett at € 22 p.p. which was delicious. You can also choose for starters only / soup only etc. since there is plenty of everything and for us it turned out to be a bit too much. The best is the hotel's wellness facilities: beautiful sauna, nice pool, and an above-average fitness area. We loved it!!!
A minor problem as other reviewers mentioned are the flies - probably you have to live with them since the area of Achental is agricultural and there are huge cow paddocks sorrounding the hotel everywhere.
Overall it was a great experience: clean, professional staff, good breakfast and extraordinary wellness facilities - everything you can expect from a 4-star property in the countryside.

Very nice views. The staff was pleasant. We ate dinner there and opted for the buffett. Perhaps it was our American view of food preperation - but there were flies all over the food. It didn't seem to bother any of the locals, but it didn't help our appetite. There was also a large football team staying in the hotel who stayed up till 4 AM singing and yelling. Nice if you are into loud parties, not so nice if you wanted to actually sleep.
