“Professionalism and relaxation”

I have to stay for 4 days in Erkel Hotel for a conference: excellent services, professionalism and corectitude. The only minus: most of them are only speaking Hungarian. If you intent to go there, together with your reservation ask for English speaker personel. They have a small spa, but from the hotel you can go directly to the thermal baths of the town (as hotel guests, with only half of the price). Enjoy the thermal water (pools between 32 and 37 Celsius degrees) or the water slides.

“Conveniently located but old-fashined spa hotel”

The little spa town on the Romanian border has undergone a radical makover in the past years. From a sleepy, boring bordertown it turned into charming small town, ideal for relaxation.
Hotel Erkel was built to serve the spa probably in the 70s. Even though efforts were made to renovate it, details still ruin the experience to some extent (doors, windows, shower curtains, etc.). It is great though that you can just take the elevator down to the spa with all the amenities and terrible looking and smelling but excellent quality healing water.
Most of the guests are above 60, using the fringe benefits of the Hungarian health care system and stay there for weeks. Most of them tend to be quite assertive at the breakfast buffee...

One interesting extra is DVD players in the rooms (bring your own DVDs).
