We spent 5 nights at Royal Davui as part of our 2 week Fijian Honeymoon.

We LOVED it!

The Island itself is beautiful and natural with lots of wildlife and cute little Gecko’s! The gardens are well maintained and the grounds are immaculate. The snorkelling is out of this world, we did daily snorkelling trips launching from the pontoon and every day we saw something different. When you go ask staff for some bread and feed the fish while your snorkelling, they love it and it makes it really special.

The rooms are clean, spacious and just what they look like on their website. We stayed in Villa 16 which is a Deluxe Villa and we loved it, we had a great view of Bequ Island and we where only a short walk to the bar and restaurant area. The plunge pool is refreshing and cleaned and serviced daily when the rooms are cleaned. The rooms are serviced and cleaned twice a day and on the turn down service a daily newsletter is left in the room with activities for the next day, menu's and also guests that are coming and going from the island. It's a nice touch and we kept all our newsletters as a memento.

The food and beverage is amazing! Our signature cocktail was the Pina Colada and we would often treat ourselves to one daily (often twice daily) I highly suggest taking advantage of the daily happy hour, it really sets to tone for the evening and gives you a chance to have a chat with staff and guests. We couldn't fault any of the meals! The food was of excellent quality and plentiful. It was a wonderful combination of home cooked goodness and a five star restaurant.

While there we did the Sand Quay Picnic and would highly recommend it to everyone who goes there.

All the staff at Royal Davui where naturally friendly and excellent at what they do it wasn't long before everyone knew who we where and we felt like part of the family. The nightly entertainment was always a lot of fun, especially the Hermit Crab race!

We will defiantly be back!

The weather had been poor the week before our journey. We received phone calls and emails letting us know how they were going to accommodate our transfer in anticipation of inclement weather. We really appreciated this attention to detail.

We chose to transfer by car and it was the best decision we ever made. The journey along the Coral Coast was breathtaking. While Fiji is described as a developing nation, we couldn't help but question who was better off as we drove past Fijian village homes a mere five meters from such pristine ocean. The drivers provided were accommodating, punctual and kind and shared the odd joke with us.

We couldn’t have imagined in our wildest dreams what awaited us at Royal Davui. We researched our honeymoon on Trip Advisor before selecting Royal Davui and in the days after our return to Sydney we still wonder how any reviewer could look upon their time at Royal Davui any way but fondly.

The Villas are stunning. Positioned perfectly to take advantage of the Islands dynamic aspects. We were upgraded to a Deluxe Vale that we appreciated and it meant we could enjoy the heated plunge pool at night. We sincerely appreciated our upgrade as it gave us the opportunity to sit in our plunge pool and enjoy the full moon as it rose over Beqa Island. Supurb! (Upgrades can be provided if Villas are available so be sure to ask when booking)

The Villas are well appointed with everything you need to have a five star holiday experience, from shaving ports under the vanity in the bathroom to bars with a generous selection of local beers, tonic, still and soda water and tea, coffee and cookies.

The living areas are expansive. However, once we discovered the equally expansive reef and marine life we have to admit to spending more time in the ocean than we did our Vale.

Meals were fresh and the variety was good. (They have a 9-day rotational menu)

Some Meals were particularly delicious and if you really enjoy them you can request to have the same meal again. Must to try are all the traditional dishes.
Kokoda – marinated reef fish with lemon, coconut milk and chili, Palusami – a local baked dish made with taro leaves filled with tomato, onion and fresh coconut cream and Ika Vakalolo – fish sautéed in coconut milk topped with seasonal salsa were particular favorites.

There are a lot of fantastically fragrant Indian style dishes as well, my partner really enjoyed the lamb curry with roti.

All the flavors you know were there as well if you feel homesick, bruchetta, salad nicoise and for lunch you can build your own sandwiches if you prefer.

A must is to have your meals served in one of the private fining locations around the island.

Breakfast, two-course lunch and three-course dinner are all built into the tariff. Soft drink and alcohol are additional and charged to your room.

We bought a bottle of Bombay Sapphire at duty free on our way with the intention of drinking in our rooms but we ended up leaving 80% of the bottle there. It’s a good idea but you just won’t drink it. The cocktails and local beers are reasonably priced over the bar. Happy hour makes thing more affordable to. Wines are expensive.

We got a bottle of Veuve Clicquot at duty free also and that was a great idea. We sat in the plunge pool at night drinking champagne, listening to the waves and watching the full moon rise.

We were on our honeymoon so doing a lot of nothing was the name of the game. If you feel the need to socialize with other couples you can, we had a couple of great nights at the bar and really enjoyed the hermit crab races. (Be sure to ask the bar staff for the inside tips on how to pick the winning crab).

Royal Davui is alive. Walking up the path after diner hermit crabs crawl and roll to get out of your way. Local chilli birds compete with you for your lunch (keep food attended). We saw the local sea snake a couple of times. The marine life is really indescribable. We spent days swimming in crystal clear water with zebra fish, lion fish, angel fish and infant black tip reef sharks just to name a few.

The food, location and accommodation aside the staff are what made our stay. Without them it would have just been a resort. The staff elevated our experience to something altogether different and entirely special and unique.

Vinaka to all the staff at Royal Davui and a special vinaka needs to go to Joshua for hand picking a coconut for us and sharing it with us, Jali and La and to all of you who kindly included us in your kava evening and to all of you behind the scenes who made the grounds, pools, day spa, food and everything else.

We are already planning our return journey. Vinaka!

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon - 2 weeks in Australia and almost a week in Fiji. After much research and deliberation we decided on the Royal Davui for the Fiji leg of our trip. We hoped, but of course couldn't be sure if the Royal Davui would live up to the hotel website and information... LUCKILY and HAPPILY we can say that it did! We loved everything and every minute we spent on the private island.

Royal Davui is a small island located off the main land of Beqa Lagoon. You can access the island via charter flight from Nadi + boat ride, a helicopter transfer or a car to the boat. If small planes scare you I would opt for the car to the boat even though it is 2 1/2 hours by car. If you get seasick at all take a motion sickness pill before the boat ride, even when the seas are "calm" it is bumpy! With 15 well appointed villas, 3 beaches, a pool and restaurant / bar the resort offered us the tranquil setting that we wanted, but never any of the boredom that can sometimes be associated with small resorts. We always could find something we wanted to do, although most of the time it was just to relax while sipping a cocktail!

We were in Villa 2 and it was perfect. We were lucky enough to have one of the heated plunge pools so we cannot attest to how the non-heated plunge pools are, but ours was wonderful and a great place to end our day before Happy Hour. The main pool was nice and usually quiet as were the beaches. If you wanted to you could never see or interact with another guest. One of the beaches (just to the left of the arrival dock) is great for snorkling as you can walk in with no rocks or reef in your way. The fish were awesome and all over the place. All the gear is available for free at the Marine shop.

The spa is in one of the Villas and is relaxing and reasonably prices for an upscale resort. I will say that if you like a more "deep tissue" massage that is not what you are going to get - just go in with the mind set of relaxation and you will be pleased with the treatment!

Onto the best part - the food and bar. We did not eat one thing that we did not like. I have to comment on other reviews, the portions are not "small" they are just smaller then what we are served in the states. Anyway, with an amuse-bouche, appetizer, entree and dessert for dinner a smaller serving is ok or you would never be able to eat it all. Lunch was plenty of food as well. Fresh is an understatement as everything seemed like it was caught in the ocean that morning. There is also always an option for non-seafood eaters which is nice if you do not like fish, but honestly if you don't eat seafood Fiji may not be the place for you! There are about 26 specialty cocktails on the Davui menu (all are $26 Fijian) and are worth every penny they are tropical, delicious and refreshing to drink. Between the 2 of us we tried over half of them. YUMMY!

In conclusion we would recommend Royal Davui to all, it was the perfect ending to our wonderful honeymoon adventure. Julie the GM is friendly, always present and knowledgeable about the property and all the surrounding areas. Ask her anything and she will be happy to help. The staff is some of the friendliest people in the world - chat with them and ask their opinions on drink choices etc. they were always spot on! Royal Davui is worth the splurge go for it!

This is a perfect vacation. The island is gorgeous and surrounded with brilliant snorkeling reefs with colorful fish. The cabins are what I wish my home looked like. They are comfy, with amazing views of the beach. And the heated outdoor tub is big enough for a party. I could have stayed in the cabin the whole time, but the rest of the island is brilliant, too.

Even the pool has a view of the beach. The best spot was the restraunt which had tables overlooking the beach or in under the roof and there was a huge Banyan tree there. The food was great. I always ate the fish, but they always had other options everyone else seemed to love. It was great getting to meet the other travelers during happy hour and they usually had fun events like crab racing, Kava night, Bar-B-Q, volleyball, and coconut demonstrations.

Plus, they have a few really good dive masters that took us to brilliant coral reefs and pointed out all the interesting things that I would have missed, like an Octopus hidden in a hole and Lian fish hiding in a ship wreck. We went diving to around 7 or 8 times and each sight seemed to be more interesting. My favorite was the shark dive. It felt surprisingly safe since they've been doing it 3 times a week for twenty years.

And I loved all the staff. They have great smiles and gorgeous singing voices. I felt completely pampered beyond my expectations. And the Woman who ran the place was not only great at getting us everything we wanted, but she was really fun to hang out with. I'd like to take everyone here home with me.
