I was upgrading my reservation by telephone to an "indulgence room" (paid upgrade) and this was confirmed. I asked for a quiet location to the rear of the hotel and also asked for a pick-up at the train station, several kilometers away at Melk. It all worked well.
Finding, that the room had small roof windows only, resulting in a darkish room, was the 1st disappointment. As announced, our room had a nespresso machine - with a note to pay €1.89 for each capsula. (I stayed in BW hotels, were nespresso coffee was included) - 2nd disappointment on arrival.
There was some dirt at the windows, a full ash tray at our balcony (non-smoking room), dust at the ventilation in the bath room. Since there were plenty of mosquitos in our room, we squeezed one while sleeping and had a blood stain on the sheet - this was not changed (we had a 2nd blood stain from a 2nd mosquito next morning - again, no changes regarding the sheet).
The lobby could be more welcoming (full of hodgepodge). There is a free internet, though. The restaurant was very good on the first evening. We had a very nice waitress who stayed attentive although there was a group in the restaurant. The other night we went into the other room - stained table cloth, not a good start as such. The wine selection is very good, though.
Breakfast choice was average, the bread excellent, service slow (left tables were cleaned 20' later while the restaurant was not full).
The hotel is in a nice location, but it is more than 20min walk to the small village of Emmersdorf. I would call this "remote". There is a public bus transport to Spitz (the original train connection has been interrupted) and to Melk (the abbey is a must see). So, if you are without a car, as we were, give it a second thought.
The hotel and the hotel staff appeared to be indifferent. It could be a jewel, if it would live it to its full potential.. Next time I would prefer Spitz, a village surrounded by vineyards, connected by train (from/to Vienna you have to change train once) and nice hotels.
