This hotel has been recently modernised and the bedrooms are nicely, if plainly furnished with new ensuites, Air Con and electric shutters. It is on a quiet street and certainly in the room at the back there was no noise and a nice view over the rooftops to the countryside beyond St Gilles. As the previous reviewer has observed, there is free parking on the street and apparently a free surveyed municipal car park round the corner.
The best thing about this hotel was the restaurant which is amazingly good value for France today. They have 4 menus, the most expensive is 36€ and for that you get 5 courses! Fortunately we did not order that as it would have been far too filling. The "Summer menu" at 27.50 was very good indeed and the portions quite substantial. being close to the sea there was a fair choice of seafood but good rib steak as well. The wine list was also not too pricy. The restaurant has an outside terrace which is cool on a summer evening. The only downside is that the hotel is close to the Canal du Rhone et Sete and while that makes a pleasant post-dinner walk, there were a lot of midges around at dinner and I got bitten quite a lot, Make sure you have insect repellant!
As well as being handy for the Camargue, this hotel is less than 15 minutes drive from Nimes airport, less than an hour from the sandy beaches and town like Ste Maries de la Mer and Aigues Mortes.
