“Rambouillet - What else?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2010

This hotel is actually excellent. Its location makes it very easy to get to Paris in more or less 30minutes - station nearby. It is less expensive than the hotels in Paris which are smaller. We had a great stay : the rooms are clean and spacious, the hotel is quiet, we had no problem to park the car (of course, the market is sometimes on the square, but that's also what makes it all so nice : it is France, after all!), the breakfast is HUGE (so many things to taste, I had no more appetite for lunch ;-)), the staff is nice and helpful...
We will definitely go back if we ever want to travel to Paris, Versailles...
There is also a piano and in the evenings, you can attend concerts. Great great hotel.

“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2009

The best Mercure property I've stayed in. Excellent location in the center of town with easy parking in front of the hotel. Very quiet and pleasant and just a nice place to drop your bags for a relaxing stay. For metro Paris, it's a very good value as well. Only 35 minutes to the center of Paris by express train. There is an excellent fish restaurant next to the fish monger - ten minutes walk. Le Cinq next door has a passable lunch. Free WiFi is an added plus. Why doesn't the rest of the hotel world wake up to the concept of internet service as a "utility" in the same vein as lights, water and tv?

“clean 3 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2009

the hotel has no parking of its own and there are some "issues" with paid parking in the market square opposite the hotel: it is a bit of a hike to get luggage from the square to the hotel. On checking in, the receptionist took it upon herself to go into pompous mode about our "promotional" rates which - actually - were not that great, especially considering that two of the rooms overlooked some very heavy duty pneumatic drilling and one of the other rooms was overwhelmed by the extractor from the kitchen below (not that the restaurant was open). There was however a very limited dining menu (just as well as nothing else worth risking was open in the vicinity) which was quite ambitiously priced, as was breakfast, for what it was. The market outside was no great shakes. The hotel is very handy for the park but it is in the middle of a one way system and, at the moment, a construction site. The rooms were clean, which was at least a welcome relief after another Mercure the night before. Staying here is not a disaster but it is no great joy either.

“excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2008

I really like this hotel and I have stayed here twice, I prefer to stay here than in paris as the hotel is in an excellent position opposite a market square and next to the presidents retreat . the rooms are well decorated with a fantastic bathroom .There is a nice bar and an excellent breakfast selection.

Rambouillet is a great little town with good shops restuarants and a beautiful park . it has a good train service to paris and versaille and in a good location to explore the local towns and villages.

“Elegant Hotel in an excellent position”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2007

This recently modernised hotel is housed in an historic relais just outside the gates of the chateau. It is elegant and stylish, the rooms are very well appointed and the combination of colours and thick carpets mean the corridors and public areas are quite quiet.
The staff were efficient and helpful, even to the point of finding an aspirin for my headache when all the pharmacies were closed!
The location overlooking the main square and the gates to the chateau means you get a baclony seat from which to watch the life of the town.
Breakfast was of a high standard.
I can't quite understand why it is only three stars when other, less well appointed and decorated establishments in the same chain get more.
C'est la vie!
