“Wonderful restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Stayed there while travelling accross Europe - only for one night.

We arrived there to a very nice welcome after four hours in torrential rain - even though we we running late, they kept the kitchen open for us after hours - which was so good as the food was spectacular - one of the best meals I've had in a long time. They even had my favourite wine on the menu, which actually wants to make me go back just for the wine. I cannot say enough about the food though, I really enjoyed what I had.

The hotel was built around eight years ago, to not the highest standard. Before the current management took it on, there were quite a few water leaks, which make the hotel look a little 'shabby'. Still, the room was clean, tidy and warm. The management have said they are refurbishing the rooms starting in February 2012, so when I go back I will see.

I will stay there again, even if the rooms are not refurbished as it's worth the visit to the restaurant.

Room Tip: Perhaps ask for one of the refurbished rooms if after February 2012?

“Beautiful Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

We chose the hotel as an overnight stop on the way back from the South Coast, it's only a 20 minute diversion from the motorway and so much better than the dreadful Campanile's and their ilk.
The hotel is located in beautiful isolation in the forest. The overall feeling is that it's a bit dated and sparse. The rooms are large and quite comfortable with a good sized shower en suite. The TV seems quite silly as it,s very small and sits high on the wall in a corner.
The staff are absolutely charming, the food was very good and the breakfast the best we had in France.

“Good Hotel , but nothing to do, Restaurant is great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

We arrived at the hotel when it was raining but it still looked nice. It is in the middle of nowhere , so we ate in the restaurant of the hotel. The food was great!. and not really expensive. The rooms was good but small for 3 persons. Everything was clean. Personell was friendly but only spoke french, None of them spoke English. Next day with the sun you can have a nice walk if you like that . You have to need a car because there is really nothing. This is a hotel for older people who wants to walk, see nature and history.

“Disappointing”

The choice of breakfast was pretty poor. The restaurant in the evening didn't have what was advertised on the menu. Had to check the bills on both stays - overcharge. We were disappointed with the rooms on our second stay.

“OK for a business stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2007

people found this review helpful

My wife and I wanted to stay in the Champagne region for a long weekend and looked for a hotel with an indoor pool.
This hotel is set in a very peaceful location (a very small village).
The rooms are fairly bare, with hanging space and 'desk top' but no drawers or cupboards. The tv is really small and mounted at ceiling height!
The few staff are friendly and helpful. General decor is a little dated and 'tired'.
This hotel is aimed at the business traveller not someone wanting to stay a few nights in comfort. There were very few guests staying while we were there (for one night we were the only guests - good service but no atmosphere!)
If we returned to the Champagne region we would stay somewhere else.
