“Could not recommend more...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

We stayed here towards the end of our travels round Croatia and what a find! It was the perfect way to end a holiday. The hosts were fantastic and incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Of an evening we would play monopoly, drink wine, play darts and have delicious food including the Croatian Peka dish.

The accommodation was immaculately presented and the standards were very high. Having a hostel that had a pool area was an added bonus and was certainly well utilised.

Could not recommend Kamena lodge more - Glynne and Ann really were the best and made our stay.

“Wonderful place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

We are in the process of booking our next holiday and can only hope that we find a place as fantastic as the Kamena Lodge! We still talk about what a great holiday we had in Croatia and this lodge definitely made our experience a memorable one. Ann and Glynn are such welcoming, friendly and fun hosts! They are there to help you with anything you need and provide transport to various locations. The BBQ Glynn does is fabulous! The pool was a great way to cool off and the communal areas offered enough space to chill out. It really is a unique place that offers a bit of everything! It is a perfect place to meet other travelers, offers enough space to accommodate a family and is a great place to sit back with a drink and relax! It is hard to find a place that has as many good reviews as the Kamena Lodge and they are all true!

“Fabulous accommodation with a pool!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

All the amazing reviews already written before me say it all. I had found Kamena Lodge on the internet and initially wasn't sure because I thought I wanted to be right in town. I am so pleased I decided to stay at Kamena Lodge. I called them from the bus on the way into town from the airport (33kn) and luckily there was a room free. I was picked up from the bus station (free of charge) and taken up the hill to the gorgeous traditional home of Ann and Glynn. I spent the first day lounging by the pool which was wonderful and relaxing. That evening, and every evening, as other guests came back from their days out, we all sat around the outdoor dining table swapping stories whilst eating our dinner or playing games. The atmosphere was perfect. I was a single female traveller who had never stayed in a hostel (although this isn't really a hostel) nor travelled alone. I immediately felt at home, safe and really enjoyed my stay there. So much so I stayed 2 extra nights. The fact that they are a little way out of town is actually really nice. You can get picked up from town at 5pm (or catch the bus later on for 11kn), cook your own dinner or head up the road to the cheap and tasty pizza restaurant (48kn for pizza and a beer), and then chill in one of the several communal areas (outdoor dining area, pool area, tv/lounge room). There is free internet and wifi and a book swap. There is an ipod dock in the kitchen/dining area which can be taken up to the pool area if you want. The rooms are spotless and most have their own bathroom. There are fans in the rooms for when it gets too hot at night in summer. The twin room was 400kn per night and the double room with a shared bathroom 200kn per night. There is also a 4 bed dorm with bathroom and doubles with bathroom. You can have breakfast there for 35kn but I bought some food from the small grocery store up the road so not sure what this entailed. There is also a bakery 5 mins away. They will, upon request, cook a bbq or traditional peka meal for 100kn per person (good value for money as it is delicious and you get a couple of glasses of wine to wash it down). I got a drop off to the airport which took about 25 mins for 80kn. Overall a welcoming, homely, clean, affordable place to chill out and base yourself for the days of exploring Split and the surrounding areas.

“Stoke City FC on Tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

We had a fantastic stay at Kamena Lodge where Glynn and Ann look after all their guests with tremendous hospitality. Could not speak more highly of our experience and would highly recommend to anyone interested in visiting the beautiful city of Split. The lodge is easily accessible through local buses or Glynn's reliable drop offs / pick ups and all information and excursions are available through Glynn and Ann. We visited the waterfalls and had a wonderful day due to Glynn's extensive knowledge of the area and his cheeky little shortcuts which enabled us to have a special experience! The BBq's are delicious and a good way to socialise with other staying guests. They are also excellent value after travelling round Croatia and experiencing a number of restaurants. Breakfast also offers something for everyone at a very reasonable price. The Villa felt like home throughout our stay and you can use kitchen facilities if you purchase your own food from the bakery and really cheap shop which are very close by. We were travelling with our 3 year old daughter and she had a wonderful time interacting with the hosts and other guests. The pool is great and their assistance when visiting the football match was invaluable. These are very special people.
Will visit in the future as Glynn and Ann's knowledge of Croatia is second to none and nothing is too much trouble. We feel we have made good friends.

“Jewel in Split”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

Myself and my friend stayed with Anne and Glyn, it will always be a special memory for me. The friendliness and help from this wonderful couple was so nice. Nothing was too much trouble. Their lovely home is a wonderful experience. Not to mention the great food and homemade wine. and of course there's the POOL!!! Such a great location a nice little deli up the road, bus within walking distance and Glyn is always happy to give you a ride into town if he is heading out. We had a great night out at the football with Glyn and Anne, that was a real experience, even though I'm not into football. Hope to back one day.
