“Lovely Agriturismo”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2007

We were three people booked into 2 beautiful rooms with balconies overlooking gardens and countryside. Completely isolated and beautifully quiet and peaceful.

Our rooms were very nice and large enough. There was one window and another large door that opened up onto a balcony with a beautiful view. The bathroom was spacious and everything was spotless and nicely decorated.

For an extra 20 euros per person, one can choose to have dinner at the Masseria. One of the reasons I chose this place for 4 nights was because of comments by people who raved about the food, the owner, etc. We did not have the same experience.

The food on two nights that we ate here was very good, since those were the two nights that there was either a large party or another table set for about 10 people coming from somewhere just for the meal. So we enjoyed the special foods made for them. On the other two nights, while the food was OK and even tasty, it was nothing really and truly great. The owner, while nice enough, was not even there for two of the four days we spent there. And when she was, she was too busy to give us more than a quick Buona Sera, etc.

It was convenient to have dinner here since the driver could drink wine without worrying about driving and since it was a very narrow country road without lights, it may have been a problem after dinner in the city.

We enjoyed the peace and quiet. We all slept very very well and the staff were enjoyable and accommodating.

“Relaxing”

Stayed here for 2 nights. The house is lovely as are the rooms. Very peaceful lying by the pool in the late afternoon sun. We ate here one night and have to say that it wasn't the best food we had in Puglia, perhaps it was just an off night. Otherwise, it was a lovely place to stay.

“Great find in Apulia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2006

This is a great find in a wonderful area for exploring much of Apulia. We used it as a base for several days (after staying in a Trulli in Alberobello) to explore Bari, several coastal villages not in any of the guidebooks, and the nearby caves. The food is excellent. We ate dinner there twice, and enjoyed hearing owner Niny Bassi's explanations of all the regional specialities, many of which are produced on the farm, including the wine and the cactus jam served at breakfast. The rooms are large, newly remodeled and look out over olive groves, cherry trees and an incredible swimming pool. The bathrooms are large and also new. The only downside is that the inn is a popular place for locals to hold parties, first communion celebrations, weddings etc. so on weekends, things can get pretty loud and busy, but local restaurants are also an option. They are untouristed, reasonably priced and fun as well. We especially enjoyed meeting two of Niny's employees, wonderful young women who help cook, serve the meals, etc. Everyone was friendly and Niny, a former art teacher, speaks excellent English and provided helpful hints for touring around in the area, including a park and ride lot available if you have a car and want to spend the day in Bari.

“Loved it!!!!”

Stayed for a week in September and we loved it so much we are going back this June! The rooms (and the bathrooms) were large and clean. The grounds are just beautiful! We were treated like family, everyone was SO gracious and helpful. And the food! We had dinner at Montepaolo 3 nights during a 6 day stay. It was fabulous. After eating Anna Marie's pizza, my husband declared "I am never eating pizza in America again!" We loved everything and highly recommend staying here.
(We can't wait to go back!)

“A home away from Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2005

Right from the start we knew we would like our stay, we were greeted with a smile and sent to a large room overlooking the garden and a large new pool. Even though it was October the water was crystal clear and warm.My suggestion is to reserve dinner at the inn at least half the time you are staying. You'll get to know the Bassi family and their staff and ANNA MARIE the owner or (NINI) which she wants you to call her. Reflecting the home away from home atmosphere that prevails throughout the Villa. The rooms are larger than most in Italy, the bathroom is full of all the comforts needed and the beds are new and hard allowing you to have a great night's sleep. The windows have screens (also rare in italy) that allows you the comfort of open windows without the bugs. There is an unbelievable scent thoughout, which seems to add to the relaxing atmosphere which engulfs you as you stay here. A great find and value. I would suggest you come with an auto the Villa full of history is about 3 KM from the town which is quite and not ruined with tourists yet. The rooms, the food, the staff and the family are all wonderful, it all left me with a feeling of sadness when we had to leave. It seems you become part of the family. It felt so at home. The warmth and the kindness of the family and staff will draw me back everytime I'm in Puglia. We travel to Italy every year sometimes twice and for sure WE will return again. You'll be treated like family and when your away from home that's rare, you'll have all the privicy you need if you want and the comfort of knowing the staff and Nini will make your stay full of plenty of good wine, food, and lots great kindness. You'll be able to taste the products made from the land. The earthy wonderful, marmilades, wines and breads and cakes all home made, as well as the pasta and just plain great company. Needless to say a tear began to drop when Nini and her staff sent us off after only 6 days we were family. Don't hesitate to go if your interested in the Pugliese people and their kind hearts and strong pride in their home and land. We will return, Mayor Nicholas B. Capozzi Port Washington, New York
