“Relaxed and homely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Arrived for a one night stay in early December. The atmosphere is really chilled and homely. After being shown to our room we just chilled in the bar reading the papers whilst a few locals came in for drinks. Dinner was nice but choice a bit limited and eaten better elsewhere. Nothin wrong with it at all but have had nicer meals. Chilled in the bar after dinner and service was excellent. Breakfast was superb, had the full English which was superb and left no need for anything the rest of the day. A lovely short break, too late in the year to enjoy the gardens which looked nice and I imagine are excellent in summer. Christmas decorations were lovely.

“So glad we stayed here, not Limewood!!”

We came to spend a weekend in the New Forest, mushrooming (the legal kind). Initially we looked at Limewood but were put off by the high prices, then checked Tripadvisor, and saw much better value The Mill close to our hunt. No brainer! Terrific welcome, great restaurant, real country home feel, but without any shabbiness. Worth its reputation and ratings. To make us feel even better, we drove by Limewood on our drive to London - unimpressed and doubly-happy with the Mill.

“amazing place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

We were at The Mill for dinner recently with friends, and cannot praise our experience enough. From having a drink at the cosy bar, when we were served complimentary nibbles, to our choice of set menu in the beautiful candlelit dining room, everything was perfect. The food was excellent and very good value, and the service first class, friendly and efficient.
We will definitely return, perhaps for lunch on the terrace, overlooking the stream and beautiful garden. A very special place, and hopefully next time we will stay and sample the rooms as well.

“an oasis in the New Forest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

We have just returned from a very relaxing few days at the Mill. We are first time visitors and were very impressed with the rooms, we stayed in the suite, with views over the mill pond and also to the front of the hotel. The room was very well decorated and equipped, though more hangars would not have gone amiss.
There is a separate sitting room which has comfortable seating, fire place and dining table.
The suite is on a separate and completely private landing in the older part of the mill. The only downside being the function room below the bedroom. This turned out to be noisy late into the evening, though we were offered and accepted a room change for our last night. This room was equally well decorated and furnished and had a small balcony overlooking the mill stream and part of the garden and was very restful.
The restaurant, though very busy, worked well and the meals were good value and well presented.

The staff and the owner Liz were very pleasant and most helpful.

We had an enjoyable stay and look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Room 1, was excellent
