we were warmly greeted by daniela and frank to a haven of peace and tranquility.nature has enveloped the accommodation area and the site as intended.views overlooking the lake were magical.the bed room had a sense of old world charm, which was lovely. the breakfasts and the delicious home cooked evening meals which we shared with the family added to its appeal.over all wonderful hosts in a unique location . we intend to return.

In todays stressful world this is truly the most magical retreat!Having driven along the long track and been shown to our rooms one could feel a " letting go" and a realistaion that - to be here for a few days was going to restore and relax. lovely walks around the Quinta-- plenty of good books essential!
All we did for 4 days was to sit by the Barragem and swim and read and watch the light changing from an early dawn to a sunset.The main excercise was a pedalo out on the barragem to watch the fish jumping around us- before an evening drink and a delicious dinner
There is good food and good company also-- and my husband enjoyed a great exploration of the local birdlife with Frank-- the most wonderful break breathing the purest of air - the only problem that one could have is the transition back to the " real world!"

We were looking for peace, tranquility and escapism, we found all this and much more! The first views of the lake as we got nearer the hotel were simply outstanding, we were lost for words( very rare!). Our hosts Frank and Daniela greeted us warmly and from the first to the last moment our every wish was catered for. Our cosy twin bedded room with large bathroom was spotless and surprisingly cool, despite the outside heat. A fabulous view of the lake from our patio, a book or crossword, often accompanied by a chilled glass of local wine,vinho verde, was the perfect way to relax in this beautiful piece of paradise! We had all our meals at the Quinta, around one huge table with its window in front of the lake, with the other guests. Meals were hugely entertaining affairs, as people from all parts of the globe, relayed stories and experiences, normally with great hilarity! Frank and Daniella, with their beautifully behaved children ate with us and before long we were as one big happy family, it was great! The food was delicios and beautifully cooked by Daniela, and always with the freshest ingredients and always different, for 6 days we never had the same dish. Masses to do for water lovers in the form of swimming, canoes, pedaloes and sailing boat on the clear warm lake,(no mosquitos) often accompanied by Peshqua, the olympic Red Setter swimmer! There were gorgeous walks to experience alone or guided by Frank who has incredible knowledge of the birds and wildlife that are to be encountered in and around the Quinta. No TV was brilliant, and although there was free wi-fi for those who wanted it, the fabulous location and total feeling of "we really have found the best get-away-from-it-all place" meant that we didn't really think about the "outside world"! We were very sad at the end of our stay to leave this very unique paradiso. Frank and Daniela worked tirelessly to ensure that that we were totally relaxed, fed and watered to the extremes and completely content, each and every day of our stay.Thank you to all at the Quinta, and not forgetting Harry the Parrot, and the 4 dogs. I do hope we can manage another visit before too long! xx

A wonderful hotel: great situation, lovely views, comfortable rooms, great food! Pretty isolated so take some books, or take up bird-watching with the experts. Most helpful hosts, advising us on where to walk and even lending us the three dogs as company. I recommend eating dinner at the quinta as it is a long drive from anywhere, but believe me, this is no hardship - the food was the best of our stay in Portugal. Totally recommended.
