“Loved it!”

Stayed for 2 weeks on all inclusive and loved it! The hotel is lovely and always very clean and the staff are always polite and very friendly. Cannot understand some previous reviews regarding the food as we always found something to eat, it always tasted good and wasn't recycled from the previous day.
We had beautiful sea views and whereas the shower was a little cramped we were perfectly satisfied with our rooms, they were clean and comfortable.
The pool was nice but was a little deep which was unexpected but we soon got used to it, in fact helped us all practice our diving!!
The beach was lovely and we could always get sunbeds and didn't mind the 3 euros for the day. It had a lifeguard during the day who, as we observed a few times, was up to the job even on the one day during our fortnight when the red flag was out due to rough sea.
In all we had a brilliant time here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and we would like to thank all the staff there for their service, would definately go again.

“Would come back”

I just went there with a friend, we we´re 2 girls who wanted to stay nice - and have a great time. I think that generally the hotel is very good, and i would recommend it to others. We had all incl. and from my point of view, i think it was great. Breakfast very good with lots of different things - all american style. Lunch was good and always different, and so with the dinner. (Though we just ate dinner 2 days out of a 1 week stay - because we wanted to go out and eat too, to get the feeling of ordering a thing, and have a more personal place to sit - because it gets a bit crowded in an all incl. restaurant.) Service - and staff was excellent - and very helpfull. One of the days, i got sun-burned it the face, and a sweet lady from the restaurant got me this amazing cream to help it off (If you see this, then THANKS again!). All-incl drinks was good, and also with cocktails, which is not included in many other all-incl hotels. So that was perfect! Nice beach, which we stayed on the most (cost of 6 euro for 2 sun-beds and an umbrella). Pool area very fine, just very deep. No less than 2 m. - therefore we went to the beach (also a bit noisy by the pool - though i think that´s a part of staying in crete!) Nice and clean hotel, with lots of space and good areas for all people. Worth a try :-)

“Great location but terrible food (Avoid all-inclusive)”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

We traveled with an all-inclusive package and we found that the hotel was decent enough for a family with kids when it comes to nightly activity loud music etc.

One first note to make however is that when we arrived tired and hungry it took FOREVER to get rooms + luggage ready. Yes, i'm talking about 1-2 hours for different members in my travel company.

Still, it was also very close to the ocean and the pool was fine. The beach was great, kind of filled with small rocks and a bit of trash but was no bother, felt pretty normal. The beach was also spacious and mostly lifeguard protected.

The parasol for the beach was 3£ / day for a single sunlounger, very expensive considering all-inclusive package. Many times the ocean was rough and was flagged red so we retreated to the pool area. The pool area had one major flaw - way to few parasols. Red flag almost always lead to no parasols available. So you had to play 6£ to use a parasol at the beach when you couldn't even swim in the ocean.

The room was good and had a nice view over the pool area. The road was not bothersome at all for us but other rooms were closer to it. The safety deposit in the room was very expensive (should be free of charge!) it was priced at 20£ a week. Felt terrible indeed. Massage chairs and games were coin activated and very expensive as well.

Overall though, the closeness to such a spacious beach made the hotel a nice stay had we not payed for food and drink. BUT still today the homepage of this hotel has the following information regarding snacks available in the all-inclusive package: "Snacks (homemade pizza, toasts, sandwiches) 10-22". The only snack that was offered was some bad nuts, one flavor of chips and a TERRIBLE sandwich. Ordering a sandwich took about 30 minutes or so. They never had any ready because everyone learned pretty quickly how terrible they were. Big disappointment, because the only value from all-inclusive in between meals was water bottles and the occasional beer for us.

The three meals that was offered was not good. You get a buffet with cold, tasteless food. Often leftovers from the previous meals (including from day before). Especially the tomatoes suffered from this. Being sliced up in to big numbers presented in a watery bowl for hours and then the leftovers was presented again 18 hours later at lunch the day after? Crete has some of the best food in the world and it's not even expensive to eat compared to many other places. Forget the all-inclusive and enjoy real food and buy your own snacks.

“Great family holiday”

I'm a single parent and took my 3 kids here (ages: 17,12 and 11). Was nervous after reading reviews on this site but the price was attractive so thought we'd give it a go. When we arrived I was expecting a standard room as that's what I'd booked, instead we had a 2 bed, 2 bath villa. They called it a maisonette incase you want to request this. The villa was beautiful, newly built, well decorated and had 3 balconies. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We needed a taxi on one occasion but were unable to get one so one of the staff drove us to our destination. The pool is quite basic but big and clean and always enough sunbeds! The beach is beautiful and sitting in the evenings eating dinner looking out over the beach to the sunset was a wonderful experience. The food is what you would expect from a buffet, my children were always able to find at least a few things that they liked, there were always plenty of salad options including lots of greek salad and tzatsiki! This is not a lively hotel in terms of entertainment but if you're looking for a relaxing, friendly, clean hotel on the beach then this is perfect!

“Good as a base for touring”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2011

We stayed at Santa Marina as part of a Page & Moy tour. The hotel is outside the main town of Chania, Agia Marina is really just a strip of small shops and tavernas. I wouldn't choose it for a holiday location for a beach holiday but as a base for sightseeing it is great. We were in the part of the hotel overlooking the beach and bay which was lovely, unfortunately we could not walk along the beach often as the weather was unusually cool but if the weather had been better it would be a lovely place to walk. The room was fairly basic, certainly nothing luxurious, but you don't live in the room all day! The bathroom was tiny but there was plenty of hot water and all very clean - good shower although you had to step into the half bath! to use it.

The meals are buffet style and the selection is very good, with plenty of choice. We thought it was very good and we have been to many 3* Italian hotels, which this is really, this was one of the best for food quality. I cannot understand the person who didn't like the food - what were they expecting - the Ritz? The Manager is always at the restaurant at dinner so if anyone had a problem they could have taken it up with him.

All the staff are so helpful, the waitresses Artemis and Konstantina are brilliant - always a smile and so friendly & helpful.

The bar area is spoilt by having loud music playing at times in the evening - totally unnecessary and the TV area off the bar area was often too loud - this should be in a separate area.

Other than that small point the hotel is really good.
