Spent a week at the resort in January 2012.
Check-in process was flawless. Jose checked us in and was extremely polite. He explained everything in detail, as we booked the Escape Inclusive Package (all-inclusive). So glad we did.
Bellhop to us and our luggage to a huge room in the 4th floor (428). He made sure we were oriented to the resort and set our luggage out, so we could easily unpack.
Changed and went straight to the pool bar for a snack and drinks. Wendy was the bartender. She was excellent. She explained the menu and choices to us. She suggested the chips and dip. Great choice. She made sure our drinks did not go empty.
LaVista restaurant - breakfast was a buffet for $25 per person. Choices were great and some items rotated, so it was not the same every day. They had an omlet station, chaffing dishes for hot items (beans & rice, eggs, pancakes, etc) and a cold section (fruits, yogurt, cheese) They also had a bread section. The staff was always professional. We often had to ask for more OJ and coffee.
LaVista restaurant - dinner was from the menu. Dinners ran about $120 (for 2) with drinks. They had plenty of choices on the menu. They staff was nice and talked to us between courses. They were helpful in explaining some dishes and getting anything we needed.
Lobby Bar - same menu for lunch and dinner. Turned out this was a favroriate place for us to eat and spend some time in the evening. They had 3 TVs to catch a sporting event or news.
Pool bar - closes at 6PM. Wendy and Tomas were out best bartenders. In a day or so, they knew our names and room # for room charges. Even with the all-inclusive, we had to sign slips. Drinks were good and contained sufficient alcohol. We ate here a few timesfor lunch. All food is prepared fresh and in their kitchen. If you sit at the bar, you can see them make all the food. Drinks were about $7 each, including tax and 10% service charge (on the bill).
Neuvo Latino restaurant - upscale. It say no shorts, but I saw plenty of people wearing them for dinner. Food was excellent. The seafood bisque was suberb, likely the best I have had. Other menu items were excellent. The waiters were good.
A main theme we noticed ... people said the staff was stuck up. We found quite the contrary. The Costa Ricans are proud and want yo to learn their culture. Let them help you and be polite to them. They in turn are VERY helpful to you. The service we received was excellent dring te 7 days we stayed at the resort.
Checkout was smooth as well. Bill was under the door in the AM. We had to get a few charges reviewed. No issues and done in 10 minutes.
Would return in a heartbeat. Great place. Take in the atmosphere and enjoy.
Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views. Room 418 is larger than the standard rooms.
