“Lovely rooms, amazing breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Stayed here for one night whilst on business in Inverness. The room was immaculate with a lovely view out onto Loch Ness. After a peaceful and refreshing sleep a delicious breakfast awaited with homemade rolls, jam, freshly made pancakes and scrambled eggs from the hens in the garden… one of the best breakfasts I've had! All consumed whilst watching the red squirrels in the garden. Unfortunately I was on business so didn't have time to explore (there was plenty of information on attractions nearby), but I will be back with hopefully more time to spare… and I can't wait for that breakfast!

“Best stay in our 3 week British Isles vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

John, Glenn, The Pottery House, and The Dores Inn were amongst one other location as the best places we stayed and ate during our 3 week 2011 Fall vacation to the British Isles. Made an excellent memory of our trip of a lifetime! Fresh air, beautiful location, very comfortable room, HUGE bathroom, excellent food, wonderful conversation and company. Highly recommend them all. Can't wait to return. Thank you John & Glenn!!!

“Excellent rooms & view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We had a very short stay here in January. Thankfully the weather was bright and sunny and we had a great time walking along the Loch Ness.

We stayed in the 'Front Double' room which has an amazing view of the Loch Ness. The room itself is of a very high standard and everything was perfect. The hosts are nice and the breakfast was great.

However, it just didn't feel like a B&B and felt more like a really nice hotel. This isn't a negative at all, just a subjective opinion.

Tip: People who're planning to use public transport while staying here should note that there literally is just one single restaurant within walking distance. And buses making the 8 mile journey to Inverness are very infrequent (once every 2 hours till late afternoon). Pottery House does mention this fact in its FAQ section on the website. We were unlucky in that the local restaurant was closed that day and we survived on biscuits and tea for dinner since we didn't really feel up to spending the time & money doing an 8 mile cab trip to and back from Inverness. Plus, no takeaways deliver in the area.

Room Tip: Like it says on the website - The 'Front Double' is a huge room with a great view!

Thank you for your kind comments. It was unfortunate that the Dores Inn was closed for a new year deep clean on the night of your stay and as you say, information about public transport links is on the Frequently Asked Question page of our website.

This page of our website also states that the Dores Inn is the only place to dine within walking distance and recommends booking in advance, as did the confirmation email you were sent at the time of booking. Had you done so you would have known the Inn was closed for the night and been able to dine in Inverness before travelling out to Dores.

“Could not be faulted!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

This was a surprise 50th birthday trip to Loch Ness, a place I had always wanted to visit to see the Loch, Urquhart Castle and a red squirrel. My husband planned it all.

We hired a car from Inverness airport and our journey didnt take long. On the approach to Dores we came around a bend to be greated by Loch Ness, stunning! I was just hoping the B&B would be as good!

On arrival at the Pottery House we were greeted by John and although we were a little early welcomed us in, our room was wonderful, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in our room, the en-suite like our bedroom was large and tastefully decorated. Glen greeted us every morning with a superb breakfast and local information topical discussion etc, on our last day the only thing I had not seen was a red squirrel, Glen knowing this kept en eye out and although not up close and personal I eventually got to see the squirrel. Perfect!

I could not fault this little B&B

We stayed for three nights and really enjoyed our stay. Very welcoming hosts, comfortable, clean and warm bedrooms and a fabulous breakfast. The Dores Inn is on the doorstep and serves excellent meals, definitely a wonderful place to stay, we will be back.
