“Good food, great service but tired décor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

Stayed here for a family birthday weekend. We received a really warm welcome and wonderful service throughout our stay. On the Saturday we had the 6 course menu gastronomique with wine suggestions which was excellent, as was the 4 course menu on Sunday night. Breakfast was OK. Sadly the accommodation lets the whole place down. The rooms are clean but the décor is tired, almost shabby. A spruce up and a lick of paint would make this a place I would recommend. Even if you don't stay there you should eat there.

“Creepy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

A very old building on a busy crossroad.
The whole context looks very typical in a nice way at the beginning: owners are friendly and know how to deal with tourists.
Unfortunately rooms are old and dirty, too old and TOO DIRTY (found hair on sheets/pillows, tub not cleaned at all, scary moquette and wallpaper).
Breakfast is ok, but the hotel is far from being a good deal anyway (we booked our room on booking.com, don't know if there are better -cleaner- rooms for a reasonable price).
We had dinner there and i would advice the restaurant (very very good cooking, quite expensive to be honest), but STAY FAR from those creepy rooms.

“Overbooked.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

We booked for two nights a suite at this hotel many weeks in advance.
Upon arrival we were informed that the hotel was 'overbooked'. The owner said he had a proposal. He took us out the back to a portable accomodation block that was peeling.
Inside it was not clean. The sofa and beds both had stains on them. The toilet was leaking everywhere. There was no hot water, no gas and no curtains at one end.
At first we accepted the offer as we were tired with two young kids in tow. But we soon realised the place was very dodgy. Tried to talk to the owner's wife but she just said wait till my husband gets back from town he will be back in half an hour. ... I refused and said it would not be possible to keep us in the accomodation block as it was not prepared for visitors yet. She said ' fine you can go'. We happily left and found a beautiful place to stay in town. I could not recommend this hotel to anybody.

“Very friendly hotel and good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2009

This hotel was perfect. The staff is very friendly. The location is very good. And the food is more than perfect. The hotel is full of history that makes it more interesting. The garden is very pretty. We enjoyed our stay very much.
