We went to Kastel Wittem on impulse to relax after a busy week. From the moment we made our booking we felt special. We stayed in a turret room and had the most amazing meal we have ever had and have recommended it to friends for romantic breaks. It was superb

I was surprised at the negative review. My wife and I loved our stay and had one of he best dinners in our life. We have dined at fine restaurants throughout europe and the U.S. over the years and our dinner at Wittem is probably our favorite. The food was outstanding and the service was incredible (very professional while also being friendly and nonpretentious). We had the 7-course meal with wine pairing. The dinner starts in their lounge area where you relax and have an aperitif while looking over the menu, before proceeding to your table for the rest of the evening. Without a doubt, choose one of the prix fixe options. It will make for a memorable evening.

The rooms in the castle are nice but nother super special. The service and food made the experience for us. We are planning to go back this winter.

This hotel is located in a very nice medieval castle in a great region of the Netherlands. Restaurant and hotel staff however are as rude, uneducated and unfriendly as can be although you're paying at least 170 euros a room here! If you take into account that the average diner also costs not less than 90 euros if you opt for the menu and the wine arrangement, I hope it is understandable that the level of my agression was reaching new heights. I will never ever stay here again, take extra caution whilst booking a "relais and chateaux" hotel and not accept being treated as the biggest idiot on the planet just because I am a young starter and do not look like I have a lot of money. What a disappointment!

Returned to the castle this past month and again was very pleased. Booked the tower room again and brought my fiance.

She was absolutely joyous when we arrived and learned that we would be staying in a quaint quiet place. We did drive through the town this time and found several eateries and pubs that I never knew existed. We opted for dinner at the castle and were severly disappointed. Not much of a selection (most based on fish) and what they did serve was very poorly prepared.

Still, the castle is great. Very small with nice staff and everything you could ask for. The bed is comfy and the bathroom is exceptional. Hard to get to but well worth it if you want a nice break from an otherwise busy "vacation".
