From the moment we arrived as Americans to Castle Wittem we were treated "snobbishly". They owner & his brother are EXTREMELY rude. We were in comfortable traveling clothes from sight seeing & they looked us up & down like we were homeless or something. We had Khaki's & sweatshirts...
We stayed at the hotel two nights. On the first morning we were there we were exiting the hotel to sight see & the owner basically grabbed the keys out of my mothers hand & said "we would feel more comfortable keeping these in case you would lose them". We were totally insulted!! The room smelled of stale smoke and was very dingy looking. I think the reason it seemed dingy is mostly because we were bummed that the owners/ staff was sooo unfriendly & unwelcoming. Definately not worth the money!!!! BEWARE, I am serious! The only pleasant thing about the hotel was that it was extremely beautiful from the outside. The grounds & the Castle itself are beautiful.

We go there every year and just love the atmosphere and food.
It is a amazing little place with lots of character.
Service is wonderful, especially the owner Mark Ritzen.
He gives you great service with this "feeling you are at home and a friend".
The gardens are beautiful maintained and a great place to go for a walk before dinner.
Dinner is the best there is in the world.
Can recommend it to anybody.
Only 20 minutes away from city of Maastricht by taxi where there is great shopping.

We went to Kastel Wittem on impulse to relax after a busy week. From the moment we made our booking we felt special. We stayed in a turret room and had the most amazing meal we have ever had and have recommended it to friends for romantic breaks. It was superb

I was surprised at the negative review. My wife and I loved our stay and had one of he best dinners in our life. We have dined at fine restaurants throughout europe and the U.S. over the years and our dinner at Wittem is probably our favorite. The food was outstanding and the service was incredible (very professional while also being friendly and nonpretentious). We had the 7-course meal with wine pairing. The dinner starts in their lounge area where you relax and have an aperitif while looking over the menu, before proceeding to your table for the rest of the evening. Without a doubt, choose one of the prix fixe options. It will make for a memorable evening.

The rooms in the castle are nice but nother super special. The service and food made the experience for us. We are planning to go back this winter.
