“A 5 star Hotel at Guest House Prices”

The Manian Hotel offers a level of accomodation, food and friendly efficient service rarely experienced in the UK.
The room we had (No 5) was large, clean, tastefully decorated and fully equipped with all one could wish. The public rooms, (bar, restaurant and reception) were also both comfortable and showed a real flair for design.
The menu for evening meals was extensive and more importantly the food was of excellent quality and beautiffuly cooked. The full English breakfast was also excellent.
The hosts (Mike and Julie) were did everything to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a high class hotel base in southern Wales

“Just the place to spend a break.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2010

It is about 48 years since i was in Wales, and i think i picked about the best hotel in the area. Just a few minutes from Tenby, and surrounding country side.
The hotel staff are very helpful, our double room we could not find any fault with it, very cosy and clean.
The cuisine was a very high standard, the breakfast of your choice.
The bedroom was cleaned and changed every day
Many thank Albert and Violet.Northern Ireland.

“Clean, good food, excellent service - what more can you want?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

As we walked into the reception, which leads into the lounge and bar, we were immediately struck by how clean, fresh and well cared for everything looked. Our room ( 2) was a little on the small side but was beautifully decorated and furnished, with a lovely shower room. Water, chocolates and tea tray were provided. The room was scrupulously clean. For us the only downside was that the bed was only a double - my husband is a large chap and I am no lightweight, so it was a bit snug for us, but would be OK for slimmer people! However, we now know that they do have rooms with larger beds, so it wouldn't be a problem next time.
The breakfast was huge and delicious ( one of the best we have had) and the evening meal was also very good and both food and wine were reasonably priced.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and provided excellent service.
We've tried a few places in the Tenby area, as we visit relatives there, and we would definitely return to Manian Lodge.

“Fantastic location but needs updating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

We stayed here for three nights and having been shown to our self-catering apartment, which was on the first floor accessed by narrow, overgrown steps, we were quite pleased - until we started to use the facilities. Although the living area was more than adequate, clean and bright, the children's bunk room was incredibly small with no bed guard for the top bunk - we had to prop up the side of the mattress with a spare pillow. (However another apartment did have a bed guard!) The double bed was very comfy but was incredibly squeaky, even the slightest movement had me cringing hoping that the children wouldnt wake up. This made for very poor sleep for the whole of our stay. The bathroom again was a good size and clean but showering every day was a challenge. The hot water "trickle" would cut out unexpectedly after a couple of minutes - we discovered that you have to turn the water off and then back on again to restablish heat which isnt good when you're covered in soap and have shampoo running into your eyes - but that was when you had any water at all. On a couple of occasions there was no water! The toilet didnt seem to flush very well either. There was only one plug socket in the main bedroom which caused us a few problems with nothing in the children's room - which I suppose is understandable. The fire escape at the back looked incredibly dangerous. Inside the children's room was a little glass hammer that you could use to break the window in the event of a fire but to be honest, I think I would have taken my chances by escaping out the front as the escape looked rusted through with at least one of the steps having snapped in half having rotted through. If you were fortunate enough to have avoided the rotten wood and rusted handrails, then you would have to fight your way though a mass of overgrown plants which obscured the stairway.

But please dont think it was all doom and gloom. The weather was glorious (which helped), the views out the back were fantastic (found out that the fields were part of Folly Farm - which is a must if you have young children), the whole apartment was very clean and the food served in the hotel was gorgeous and very reasonable with very friendly waiting staff. Mike and Julie, the owners were also lovely.

I would stay here again (but in the hotel bit as they had powershowers!) but would only use it for a short break. Just a little bit more TLC is needed.
