I was delighted to find this accomodation for our family visit to Folly Farm, but please be aware that Manian Lodge's website can be deceiving with regard to the self-catering apartments. I wish I had read the reviews on this site about them prior to booking. The hotel itself looked absolutely beautiful, and obviously deserved the stars it was awarded, however, please note that the apartments are NOT graded. Whilst being spotlessly clean, I have to echo what has been posted on this site previously; they are accessed by steps that do not look particularly safe, the fire escape is overgrown with plants, there is a lack of plug sockets, space, privacy from the rest of the family whilst dressing and having a shower is not an option with the trickle of hot water that comes through.
The front door opens into the living area, the floor of which in our apartment was on a noticeable slant, such that it made me feel like I was on a ship. The living/kitchen area has only mainly a huge glass window and between it and the main bedroom. The glass in this window did not appear to be safety glass and I was very worried about my children banging into it. The children's room and bathroom were both only accessible from our bedroom - the children like sleeping with the light on, so thanks to the huge permanently open vent above their door it meant our room was lit up all night too. We had an absolutely horrid night, which was then followed by a ridiculous pantomine of trying to shower. We had booked for 2 nights, but left before the second night as we could face another night in this apartment. I feel very disappointed that the website leads you to believe that the apartments are much nicer than they actually are!
