I can only endorse what others have said about this 'hotel'.

It's run by incompetent, discourteous and uncaring people who couldn't organize a pub raffle let alone run a hotel.

They owe us £80 for being charged twice (once on credit card and again in cash) for breakfast. Do you think we could get our money back? (Made the mistake of not asking for a receipt for cash payment). No chance. Not even the courtesy of a reply.

I can only say don't use them. Go anywhere but here even if you have to pay a lot more. It's just not worth it, take my word for it.

We booked a single nights stay for the 24/09/11 through an online booking site. We received confirmation of the booking and the money was taken. We rechecked the booking the night before and were not told that there were any issues. We were using this hotel as a base for attending a friends wedding in the area.

We set out intending to arrive early and see the area. We found the hotel with no issue but became concerned when the road outside was dug up and the hotel carpark was deserted. To say the hotel had deteriated since the publicity photos is an understatement. I think the previous comments about the place looking poor is very generous.

When we went to the door we were greeted with a sign saying CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT UNTIL15TH OF OCTOBER. We tried contacting the mobile number shown on the door for emergencies but it was unavailable. We met some local residents who felt that the owner had left the area in a rush, without clearing outstanding invoices. Whilst we were in the car park, other guests arrived to face the same issue. Our advice is check immediately with your booking agent or bank if you have booked this hotel.

Luckily our booking agent came to the rescue and found us a replacement hotel in the area and saved the day.

The message is, do not book this hotel unless you can confirm it is open and has had its promised refurbishment. There was no evidence of any refurbishment having been sarted, being carried or completed.

We booked a non-smoking room here, and on arrival we were taken back out of the hotel to some 2 storey 'chalets'. From the outside they looked poor, and from inside they were worse. The room was thick with stale smoke and dirt. Everything smelt dirty, the Walls were stained, and the shower was poor in cleanliness and appearance. We were so disappointed we checked out straight away. The lady was polite and apologetic, and gave us our refund without any quibbles. But unfortunately, I don't recommend Begelly Arms until it has a serious rehaul.

I'm only 16 and I came her with my mum and grandparents as a family evening out. As we came in we had to wait 5 minutes to be greeted by the moody bar woman who slung us some menu's and showed us where to sit. When taking our order she didn't smile once!! She had no manners and she was really scruffy. The cutlery and tables were questioning..
Whilst waiting for our food, a cat casually strolled past me and soon a scruffy young lad shooed him out.. After I saw the cat I got a bit paranoid.. and then found cat hairs on the table.. I love cats! But not in a 3 Star Hotel where you expect good quality!
The same woman who greeted us plonked the plates on the table, didnt ask if we were ok for drinks and sauces or anything like that..
The food was awful.. my curry was far too hot. As I was about to take my first bite either a fly or a flea jumped into my food and then that was it for me!! Put off all night!1 and there wasn't really much choice on the menu at all..

The owners were scruffy and unwelcoming. Would be nice if the right people owned it..

The waitress charged us wrong too! £18 instead of £28.. Bargain, ha.
