“Best 5* of Goa , better than Taj in services”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Quiet retreat, on the estuary at Cidade de Goa, located in the mid of the city ,an excellent place, hardly 7 Kms from Panaji and wmell connected to other parts of Goa.The resort truly lives up to its reputation of being a 5 Star property. beautiful lobby, great interiors. Tapestry of ceramic tiles, porcelain grained walls, beautiful upholstery and grand antiquities and statuettes create extremely beautiful environment.Having stayed in Taj etc previously, i can say it is much much better than those.

And Yes its a mini goa in itself , u don need to step out of hotel premises for anything..beach,wine, crowd, food , party all.

Thanks to Antilog Vacations as well for suggesting this property to us.They give cheap prices for Goa properties and give various options as well.Glad that they arranged stay, meals, flights everything which cud hv been expensive fr a direct purchase with the resort.

I visited this place in this month of February.Grand celebrations, bash, pomp and show, gaiety, beautiful tableaus and Cidade de Goa further add to the beauty of Goa, the land of beaches. Grand Deluxe rooms with beautiful interiors, modern amenities made my stay extremely pleasurable. I was totally amazed by the private beach and enjoyed fishing at the island.

Resort boasts of a rich library and provides a perfect relaxing place for those having a flair for reading. Cidade De Goa provides an excellent eating experience. Alfama restaurant has won several accolades for its wonderful recipes and cuisines. Pool side restaurants and meandering pools offer a great venue for unwinding, socializing and tantalizing taste buds. Major attraction of the trip was evening star cruises and musical nights. One cannot forget the great hospitality and courtesy of well groomed staff. I liked the grand decorations of the sandy pristine beach side and exotic dining area.

Soft traditional Konkan music played by the local artists add a mellow effect to the evening supper. Overall place has an extremely warm and alluring ambience. It also boasts of great shopping allay and sight seeing. It is indeed the best place for recreation, water sports, merry making, and enjoying exotic sea food. Resort has great business halls and well equipped conference rooms with wifi and internet connection. Overall, it is an superb place with all modern day facilities and beautiful locales.

Highly Recommended

Room Tip: deluxe rooms are good but yes costly off course

“No need to leave the hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This hotel provides the complete Goa experience within it's walls. it has a private beach with water sports and a separate adventure desk if you want to go out for a couple of hours in the day to an island for fishing, observing the dolphins or even snorkeling.

The staff is extremely well trained and courteous, i remember one person followed us to our room from the beach with extra towels without us even asking, really appreciated the almost stalker like service.

Food in this hotel deserves a special mention, it has 4 restaurants which are famous in all of Goa for their quality and service. We absolutely loved the outdoor restaurant "barbecue" which serves food on candlelit tables where u can hear the sounds of the ocean. The buffet is surprisingly cheap and then there is another restaurant called "alfama" which is a chef's specialty restaurant and serves excellent regional cuisine.

This hotel is located in the center of north and south goa, we explored both, the crowded and alive north and the secluded and more luxurious south goa. The central location means u will not have to travel unnecessarily to explore both sides of this wonderful city.

The rooms were pleasant, the superior rooms provide a spectacular view of the ocean. Overall a very comfortable, luxurious stay with absolutely no complaints.

However if u r someone who doesn't care about exploring the chaos of north goa like we were then u might find hotels in south goa for the same price but which are comparatively newer and with more bang for your buck.

Room Tip: Choose superior room which have a bay view.

“Quiet retreat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed here for two weeks in January. The property is very well appointed with excellent facilities, super pool area and a private beach. The location is on an estuary so the beach is darker than elsewhere and the water can be a bit murky but the tranquil quality setting and the excellent food more than compensate. The staff are extremely friendly if you take the time to engage with them.
Dona Paula is not a pretty cosmopolitan resort but jump in a taxi or tuk tuk and get out and about - the Jetty for The Sea Pebble restaurant, Miramar for Mums kitchen or The Asian Bowl, Panjim for shopping or up the coast to bustling Baga, Calangout and Candolim. go South to uttorda for miles of white sand, clear water and some fantastic seafood.
This hotel offers very good value-for-money for those looking for a quiet relaxing getaway. Prices around the hotel are on the high side so go half board and make the most of happy hour from 7 til 8 . Taxis and Tuk Tuks are cheap to hire so skip risky scooters and use these for days out - only 1500 Rs for a taxi for the day, they will take you anywhere and wait for you to take you home. We loved it.

Room Tip: Go for a ground floor beachfront deluxe room or suite with sit - out to get the best of the setting.

Dear Mr. David,

Greetings from Cidade de Goa!

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you have enjoyed your stay at Cidade de Goa. Our endeavor is to ensure complete customer satisfaction in every aspect of their experience with us.

Vainguinim Beach is known for its silver sands and is suitable for those looking for a peaceful place for some quite moments. During high tide the sea water reaches upto the edge of the land, thus making the completely wet sand appear darker then the dry sand. This is why the beach seems to look dark in color.

We hope to have the pleasure of serving you again soon.

With kind regards,

General Manager

“Good location, sloppy service, bad rooms”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I took a 3 night 4 day vacation at Cidade in January 2012. My expereince was terrible. The service is extremely sloppy. The rating is misleading; it is a 5 star only from a pricing stand point, service, overall comfort and attractiveness is more like a 2.5.

My vows started right from the checkin. The checkin information was all wrong, when i got it corrected still they checked me out one day in advance and i had to yell at the staff at the front desk, who just rubbed it off casually, saying it happens sometime. The room was dirty with soiled lavatory. Doesnt even offer the basics you expect from a 3 star leave alone a 5.

At breakfast it took almost 30 minutes to get an omelette and when you complain the staff just apologises without making any amends. Room service never arrives before 40 minutes.

I have stayed at the Marriot and Leela Goa in the past and have super memories. This was a definite mistake, never again.

The only positive was access to the quiet beach. If you are the one who expect appropriate customer serive and value for money simply avoid this place

“run its course..not quite a 5 star.”

self proclaimed 5 star resort. 3 star is what id give it. to begin with, the rooms need major overhaul. the service is average and staff is poor. seems to have run it course. not much to write about, except that discard if you have to go with friends and/or family. plenty of better options. nothing more than a 3 star. not worth the price either. pretty depressing. give this one a miss.
