“not bad for money we paid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2011

If your planning a trip here then make sure you upgrade to a "superior room",they are bigger and have a seperate kitchen with full cooker, micro, toaster, kettle and a washing machine that works perfectly,a large fridge/freezer,aircon that doubles as the heating in the winter, theres nothing to write home about in the town/village we got the bus to Alcudia..come out of the aparts and turn slightly left walk down the road past spar to the bottom then turn right, the stop is about 100 yds on your right, the stop across the road from there takes you to Palma( 6 euros each both ways) Aludia is 5 euros each way for 2 adults and 3 kids(under 5s go free),in the village nr aparts is Burger King and the tabacco shop a bit further down the marina, turn left at tab shop walk to top of street is a spanish supermarket which is very cheap, keep away from Spar if your on a budget,we spent £541 for the holiday,2 adults 3 kids,t/fers,flights and the upgrade plus 5 suitcases with Mytravel.co.uk,hope you have a nice time,1 warning DONT take the standard aparts they dont have a cooker and some dont even have a kettle, take my word for it and trust my opinion on the review and you wont go wrong, thanks for your time.

“relaxing holiday after initial hiccup”

This is definitely a tale of two hotels. We arrived after midnight with 4 young children in tow and were taken to our room by the very helpful night porter. When we entered the apartment the first impression was how dated it was and then the smell hit me, it was musty with a subtle hint of sewage. Demanded to be moved and was told there were no more rooms available but i wasn't settling for that, then from nowhere they produced a three bedroom superior room. This room was excellent, air conditioning in every room, an en suite off the main bedroom and the whole apartment was huge. I had to pay a little extra for this but it was well worth it and we went on to have a great holiday. The beach was very good and the kids had a ball also there are loads of places to eat, most reasonably priced. So, if you are coming here book the superior rooms and you will have a great time, it's very quiet at night and, after the initial setback with the room, the staff were very helpful.

“Does what it says on the tin”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2009

It's possible to get completely the wrong impression about this place because it covers so many sites and standards of accommodation. We stayed in the block shown on the main picture, it's about 5 minutes walk (towing small children) from the Hotel Panorama and is astoundingly basic. Only one bedroom had a bedside light in it - how stingy is that? No washing machines here! The road outside is noisy with traffic busy until 11.00 at night. Th e Panorama and the apartments around it would be a lot quieter.

That said, staff were friendly and helpful and on arrival we were driven the short distance from the Panorama (where the shuttle us dropped us off) to the Apartments.

The pool goes from about 4 feet to 6 feet so isn't good for small children, although we used the pool behind the Panorama which is much better, if busy. Using the pool by the "luxury" apartments wasn't mentioned to us as an option.

Would I recommend it? If you're on a limited budget then maybe. If the price of your holiday looks cheap then there is a reason why! If you pick the Don Miguel, then just be careful which of the sites you end up on.

“Graat Appartment. Great Location.”

We were staying in the three bedroom superior apartment and frankly I couldn’t fault it.

The apartment consisted of three separate twin/double bedrooms (one of which had bath, shower and WC en suite), a separate bathroom (again with bath, shower and WC), a very large living/dining room with twin sofa beds (I didn’t measure it but would estimate it was about 12 feet by 25 feet), and a separate kitchen equipped with oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine as well as a good selection of general utensils.

The pool was fairly small but big enough for our needs. During an eight day holiday in the middle of August we never once saw all sunbeds in use. It wasn’t the kind of place where you have to get up early to reserve one.

The location was, in my opinion, perfect. About three minutes from the beach and a very pleasant fifteen minute stroll along the promenade to the resort centre.

Breakfast and evening meals were available at the hotel Panorama Beach which is attached to the Don Miguel, we didn’t use this service so can’t comment on it but it seemed reasonably priced.

Please note we were in the “superior” apartments. I can’t speak for the standard apartments at Don Miguel but others told us they are not nearly as nice.

“Superb Apartment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2008

We arrived the day after Majorca had been hit by to quote the local paper "the worst weather ever". The streets were under a couple of inches of water and due to the evaporation process the temperature felt sub zero - I'm not exaggerating! Apparently the day before the rain had been horizontal!

We were pleasantly surprised to be told on arrival that we were to be upgraded to a superior apartment as we had intended to request one of these in any case. They are not pre-bookable and are subject to around a £7 supplement but in my opinion well worth the extra. The reason we were told we were receiving the upgrade at no extra charge was because the standard apartments had no heating. To be honest, the air-con which serves as the heating system is not terribly efficient at the job - well it's not designed for this as its primary function - and the first evening / night we were pretty well frozen despite having three blankets each, but the weather was not the fault of the proprietor and he certainly did what he could to better the situation.

The apartments themselves are downright luxurious - ideal for a longer stay as the provision of a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave will easily save you the extra cost. Two relatively minor niggles are that there was so much equipment in the kitchen that there was very little preparation space and why oh why do self catering apartments never supply decent food prep knives?

Bedrooms were compact but with a huge wardrobe and another minor niggle was that my bed was rather lumpy - oikay though.

Location wise I think I would prefer something closer to the centre although this was probably made worse than it usually is by the underwater adventure that was a walk and the fact that there did not appear to be any taxis running - I am sure this is not always the case.

All in all I enjoyed it. We had gone over for a specific purpose, to buy tobacco (for personal use), so the overall cost of the trip was more important than the experience itself. However I was sufficiently attracted by both Puerto Pollensa and the Don Miguel Apartments to be seriously consideering returning there in the early summer. Watch out for the update
