Having stayed at the eolo ten years ago for the simple reason it was very reasonably priced I have just returned from another stay there, this time for a week. Not much changed, fantastic position, slightly noisy with the location (road on both sides) but one gets used to it. Paid the extra for a sea view room with balcony which was worth the view of the harbour. Room was as previously very basic but adequate, no bath just a shower but that was fine. Breakfast was just ok, coffee took a bit of getting used to!! The Eolo restaurant is ok for a decent pizza. I find Puerto Pollensa to be a magical place, wonderful restaurants, beach, location for walking, have stayed in other hotels one of which I would stay in again but did not want to spend as much on this occasion and for this reason ended up back at the Eolo.

Depending upon personal preference, the hotel could be considered acceptable. The location is central, but very noisy, always, due to traffic and the hustle and bustle of the town. The rooms are super basic and tiny. The walls are paper thin and there is little in the way of peace and quiet. Definitely not the place to stay if you value your sleep. Ideal to stay if you want to be in the centre of everything and within stepping distance of many shops, restaurants, the harbour, the beach and everything you need. I'd say a good young person's/young couple's hotel, who don't plan on getting much sleep! Air con regularly failed, which was pretty uncomfortable. This hotel for me was just ok, i wouldn't recommend a friend stayed there.

I stayed at Eolo in Aug/Sept 2010 with a friend - we had a seaview room with a balcony with the most fab views ... this year I was on my own & had booked early through Travel Republic (v good), however, did not get the full room choice, so had a twin room on the side of the hotel, with a slight seaview but, no balcony - it was fine - good sized, clean bathroom, comfy beds (yes, can be noisy at night) with frequent linen change, efficient a/c & wall mounted TV. Breakfast is good, the staff are the same wonderful staff from last year - Carlos, Susan, Isaak ... to name a few - the new restaurant staff are delightful and, it is the friendliness of the Eolo staff that make the holiday ... oh yes, and the maids - cheerful & happy! Yes, the hotel is old - it could be turned in to the most amazing Boutique Hotel, however, I think it is great as it is!!!

I would imagine that if you stayed in a decent room in this hotel that you would have a better than average experience. However, I was on a budget trip, and chose a single interior room with no window. This was never going to make for a luxurious sleeping experience but I did not expect the room to be quite so tiny - like unable to swing a cat tiny!

To make matters worse, the air conditioning broke down, so the room was unbearably stuffy. The wall-mounted machine had leaked water all over my clothes below, so the tiny room was then littered with my damp clothes hanging from wherever possible.

I wasn't offered a substitute room which I was dissapointed by, but apart from that I found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful, and the public areas appeared to be well maintained.
The breakfast was pretty good and the location of the hotel was near perfect.

Overall, I have to say I found Puerto de Pollensa a little bit too busy for my tastes (even in early June). This is very much an English resort, and particularly popular with very young families and pensioners...I suppose this is better than groups of noisey, drunk youngsters, but there are definitely nicer places in Majorca.
