“Just fantastic”

I'm writing this from a very cold and wet Galway in Ireland.

Just thinking about our holiday in Samos brings warmth to my bones. It's a lovely Island if you want a particular type of holiday - where you chill at the beach, swim, eat great food & all in all, relax. If you want to have an 'active holiday', I think another island will suit your needs better.

Anyway, Kerkis Bay is just a fantastic hotel. The rooms are nice and clean, the hotel staff are just lovely. Stella, the manager, is a lovely lady & went the extra mile for us (big-time) when we discovered that due to a ferry strike we would miss our flight home. She liaised with a local travel agent to sort out alternative travel. (Y'know the nice thing? I knew she would sort it out. Ever before this problem arrived, I had faith in the innate goodness of the people running this hotel.)

We couldn't believe the value of the hotel room. It cost us €30 p/night. In Ireland, a hotel such as this would be €100 p/night.

Equally, the food was lovely & so reasonably priced - each night we would have a 2X Two course meal with a bottle of lovely Samos wine for €30. Again, back home it would be twice this.

Some of the people we met in Samos holidayed there every year, just kept coming back.

I'd recommend you come & who knows, If we've enough of this weather, we might meet you there.

“Lovely, unspoilt hotel”

My wife and I stayed at Kerkis Bay Hotel and were absolutely delighted with it! The room was spotlessly clean, roomy, good balcony and, apart from a typically hard greek bed, excellent in every way. We went on a bed and breakfast basis (the breakfasts being taken at the hotel's restaurant on the keyside) and, although limited in choice, very appetising. The receptionist, Stella, was an absolute star and could not have done more to make our stay so memorable, she even managed to teach us both several greek words and phrases while we were there. If you would like a totally laid-back type holiday then look no further than here.

“Friendly and charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

The Kerkis Bay Hotel is situated in the small working fishing harbour of Ormos Marathakampos. The hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly (Stella is a star and works hard to ensure your stay is a good one). The location is ideal for a quiet break with a small but adequate selection of tavernas along the harbour front. Travelling further afield is best done by hiring a car as the local bus service is limited (and the times of buses can be early and infrequent).

“Friendly, unpretentious gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

If you like an authentic place then both Ormos and the Kerkis bay will suit you. If you want a swish international place with lots of facilities look elsewhere and you would probably hate Samos anyway. Ormos retains its feel of a traditional fishing village and neither hotel nor village attract tourists not in keeping with the atmosphere-it is all low key. The hotel rooms are comfortable the air conditioning wonderful, everything is exceptionally clean, the taverna is good. Socrates the owner is helpful and friendly and Stella who has run reception and a lot more is an absolute gem, she is always smiling, is very efficient and never changes over the 11 years we have known her.

nice place, friendly staff, great spot, delicius greek dishes,
Samos is a very nice island and Ormos Marathokampos is a picturesque refuge for small vessels on the southwestern coast of the island.
The rooms are clean quite and we really want to come back
Its so close to turkey that we viseted one of the ancient greek places there, but lets face the truth, Samos and Greece cant be compared with Turkey
different mentality, greeks allthough live in difficult crisis seem to do their best this summer
