“Great time at Real de Minas in Batopilas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2010

My husband, myself and my 85 year old dad took a 2-day trip to Batopilas with 3 Amigos. We liked Casa Real de Minas. It's a lovely place, the rooms open to a courtyard with mango and kumquat trees and flowering plants. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, quite charming. We stayed in the rooms with A/C. Plenty of hot water. The hotel owner's mom, Lupita, is in charge of the service. We enjoyed spending time after a long hike in the courtyard rocking away, watching the birds and the mountains. Would not hesitate to return to this place.

“Comfortable, friendly, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2010

Stayed here 2 nights with my 89-year-old father. The rooms were large and comfortable, the courtyard delightful (nice to watch the black phoebes flitting around through the open rooms), the owner (Martin) extremely helpful. Just a block off the plaza. Good restaurant (Carolina's) close by. Highly recommended.

“A nice and comfortable place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2009

This is the only place I stayed in in Batopilas, so I cannot compare it with other lodgings down there, but I liked it very much. It's very clean, with comfortable beds, and affordable (paid about $40 for two people, no food). The rooms are modest but they definitely have a character, even charm. A beautiful courtyard, and friendly, unobtrusive lady caretaker. Although there is air-conditioning installed in rooms, whether it works or not is another question. In our case, it was out due to the thunderstorm, so pretty sticky night - but that's Batopilas. I was told that the months of May, June, and July are quite unbearable humidity wise. Did not have a reservation, and that was not a problem as there were not too many people visiting.

“Very Pleasant Stay”

I spent two nights here as part of a 10 day independent trip arranged though Copper Canyon Adventures in El Fuerte. The hotel is quet and pleasant. The rooms are clean and large, facing an interior courtyard with trees and tropical plants. A few comfortable chirs are in the courtyard and have a view of the canyon slopes above the town. The hotel has a small alcove with framed pictures and displays of Alexander Shepard. The hotel serves no meals, but very good meals are available at restaurants a short walk away.

The small museum in Batopilas in the Residencia is worth a visit. Batopilas is well worth the time and drive to get there. One of the most spectacular drives in the world, with a very pleasant and friendly village to spend the night. (The trip to Batopilas from Creel requires at least 2 days with a minimum of two nights's stay to have a day in Batopilas and Satevo, because of the time required for the drive.)
