Riverside Lodge, in the old mining town of Batopilas, is at the end of a 65 kilometer one lane dirt road that twists and turns its way down the Copper Canyon. The trip into Batopilas took about 5 1/2 hours from the Sierra Lodge, our previous stop. Once in Batopilas, we found this delightful old restored hacienda, with 10 very comfortable guest rooms, and electricity! There were lots of "special places" for reading, or for conversation. Our host, "Martin" who has worked at the property "all my life" was a most hospitable, kind and gentle person, who saw to our every need, including walking us to the restaurant of our choice to be sure we found the right place. Lots of interesting hikes in the area, and we had a delightful 3 night stay. The trip back to Creel, took only 4 hours as one can drive up the mountain faster than one can drive down the mountain.
