“A place to get away from it all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2010

My husband and I traveled to Ireland this summer and we completed a nine day, self-guided walking trip around the Dingle Peninsula. Moan Laur was the second B&B we stayed at and the best B&B in our entire trip. Not only were owners Ian and Rachel gracious hosts, but they went above and beyond their duty to help us with an inconvenience that arose during our walk. To make a long story short, on the morning of our very first day of walking through the countryside, from Tralee to Camp, the soles of my hiking boots detached from the boot. I had to use rubber bands and a hair band to keep the soles on, and regardless to say it was a tough hike that day. When we arrived at Moan Laur we were worried about what to do, since we had to continue our walk the following morning. Ian and Rachel then demonstrated their "super host" status by immediately offering to drive us to the closest town (Tralee) the next morning and dropping us off at the main sports store in town, so that we could buy a replacement pair of boots. Not only did they not charge us a dime for this extra service, but they also modified their schedule the next morning to take us into town so that we could then make a bus that would take us to the start of the walk. Needless to say, we will always be grateful for this act of kindness. With regards to the details of the place, as other travelers have stated here the interior of Moan Laur is really beautiful and you can tell Ian and Rachel put a great deal of work into the place. The breakfast with organic ingredients is delicious and healthy, and portions are generous -- a small, but key detail for walkers --. Also, everything is fresh, fresh, fresh. In addition to their great hospitality, Ian and Rachel are very easygoing and chill, so we felt really relaxed, which is why we went on vacation in the first place, to get away from the stresses of New York. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, the bathroom was perfect and they provide shampoo and soap. All in all, a wonderful place we would love to return to one day.

“Beautiful house in the mountains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

Moan Laur is located in a nice scenery in the mountains. The area is quite although there is a street passing the house. If you are looking for a place in the countryside, this is a place to be.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. We arrived late, but got a cup of tea for the welcome. They know the area, where they live, very well and gave us great tipps for spending our day.
If you come inside the house you won't believe your eyes! From the outside it looks like a farm house, but when you come in the place, you will be surprised about the fantastic interieur! The sitting and dining room look great: very modern, but they also managed well to keep some of the typical features of a farm house. The room is cosy with wood, bright and warm colours.
Our room and the bathroom were well equiped and nicely done. The only thing we didn't feel comfortable with were the matresses. For our feeling they were too soft so that you could feel the bedsprings.
The view out of the room was enjoyable. We saw the countryside and the mountains.
The breakfast was very delicious! Especially the scrambled eggs! I never ate such great eggs - as I learnt they were made of fresh duck eggs. We also had jogurt, fresh fruitsalad, etc...
Thanks for a great stay and for all the information you passed on!

Thanks for the review, but we're sorry you didn't find the beds comfortable though! This hasn't been mentioned before, so we're off to buy new mattresses tomorrow. Hope to see you again soon.

We were on a walking holiday all around the Dingle Peninsula and we stayed here after a long day walking and it was honestly like heaven! More than we could have asked for. Amazing value, great hosts and delicious breakfast! We felt so at home and looked after. Don't stay anywhere else! You can't beat Moan Laur!

“The Perfect Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2010

I feel like I was blessed with finding exactly what I was looking for. Beautiful view of mountains out my window! Very clean, comfortable, friendly. The service and breakfasts impeccable! I loved the duck eggs for breakfast. Ian and Rachel had lots of maps and books, and always a cozy fire at night. They invited me to a local church Christmas service and I will never forget the honor of celebrating with the natives. We sang carols and the children did a play. Tea and sweets after. I found lots of back roads while exploring the Dingle Peninsula. Amazing mountain passes and remote beautiful scenery. An enchanting trip!
The town of Dingle has lots of charm, good food and live music too. I am anxious to go back and explore even more.

“A cozy spot in a beautiful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2009

This was a great B&B experience. There was a problem with the room, but the hosts went out of their way to make it up. The food was good and the scenery was unbelievable.

It is a bit off the beaten path, but driving around the peninsula doesn't take too long.
