The best way to start my review is by saying that James' Holiday Resort almost cost me my marriage. I had chosen James because I honestly believed it would be a nice experience. The hotel having an individual's name gave me an impression of a more homely and personal service. I was supposed to arrive on the 27th of that month but missed our flight. I called to indicate this to the front desk receptionist, Carlton, who said it was fine and to let him know when we would be arriving. We did not get across from Trinidad until the 29th. Upon our arrival, I produced my receipt that I paid my one night's deposit. Carlton tried to charge us the full stay's fees all over again because according to him he held a room for two days. When I reminded him that I called, he said no one called him and he is always at the front desk. To make matters worse, after my argument with him he said pay for one night and get the other night free. I promptly retorted that it was not at all free. I paid for it. He then made advances towards my brand new bride by saying maybe they could work something out and then winked at her! I almost knocked him down then and there. The mini mart is also run by him so he is both receptionist and shop keeper, plus he picks you up at the airport. I am not sure then how he is always at the front desk as he always says. The rooms were cramped, the air condition noisy and the bathrooms dirty and very small. The planes landing and taking off shakes the entire building and the walk to the beach is long. There is absolutely nothing at all positive that can be said about this hotel, the service is beyond atrocious. My wife got so upset with me for making such a poor choice that she honestly did rethink our marriage. After much grovelling for a second chance, I now have what is a very funny story to anyone who listens. I had to redo my honeymoon several months later at Store Bay Holiday Resort, the best place in Tobago. DO NOT STAY AT JAMES' RESORT. THE HOTEL NEEDS DEMOLISHING AND REDOING AND CARLTON NEEDS TO RETURN TO TOURISM SCHOOL TO LEARN ALL ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
