“BEWARE!!!”

I had the ABSOLUTE misfortune of staying at this God-forsaken hell hole. The staff entered my room when we were out & helped themselves to our jewellery.

At the end of our stay, we were also forced to pay for a key deposit for the room key that "mysteriously" found its way to the bottom of my travel bag.

I'm not the only person to have been roobed at this place & the management's manner was atricious!

I would recommend this place to NO ONE!!!

“Was more than I expected - definitely going back as soon as I can to James Holiday Resort”

After my foreign siblings asked to go to Tobago prior to their visit to Trinidad this Easter, it became a last minute plan. I called around numerous popular hotels (stayed at Crown Point Beach Hotel last September 2009) and was informed that they were all totally booked for the Easter long weekend (I called on Ash Wednesday). Eventually I came across the James Holiday Resort ad and decided to make one last call as I was about to give up on going to Tobago. I spoke with a very pleasant gentleman by the name of Carlton who gave me instructions on how to proceed to make the downpayment for the apartment to accommodate 5 adults for 4 nights/5days as this was their package deal for the Easter holidays. After making the downpayment one of my siblings and I did a search on the internet and were shocked to see the amount of negative reviews for this Resort. I actaully started to panic but then decided to give it a chance. We were very satisfied with the service we received. The fridge in the apartment was not working properly when we first arrived and I called Carlton and reported it immediately - we had an exchange of another fridge within 20 minutes. It worked wonderfully. No complaints about air condition - that worked great. I made a request for fresh towels and additional toilet paper 2 days after arriving and received same upon request. Folks, even though so many of you insist that the service was bad, its always good to meet the other person half-way. A simple phone call to Carlton when something was needed and all was made well immediately. The Resort appeared to be fully booked but the noise level was well managed by the guests. We all slept quite comfortably even though we may hear a plane landing and taking off every so often - that would be expected because of the location to the airport. It was a little exciting for us to actually see this close up each time as we strolled around to the ocean at the back of the Resort (at the back of Sandy Point apts.) every morning and night that we stayed.
We had several cool slow walks to StoreBay and called a taxi for several drops to Pigeon Point. The grocery on the compound was well stocked and absolutely no one bothered us during our stay at the Resort. The cupboards were clean, as well as the stove and floor. Carlton even called us a taxi on our departure yesterday (April 6th) and the taxi driver was also very pleasant. If I had to do it again - I will stay at James - it was very relaxing for all of us and we had a blast of a time. Carlton, you will certainly see us again at your Resort.

“Worst Honeymoon”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2010

The best way to start my review is by saying that James' Holiday Resort almost cost me my marriage. I had chosen James because I honestly believed it would be a nice experience. The hotel having an individual's name gave me an impression of a more homely and personal service. I was supposed to arrive on the 27th of that month but missed our flight. I called to indicate this to the front desk receptionist, Carlton, who said it was fine and to let him know when we would be arriving. We did not get across from Trinidad until the 29th. Upon our arrival, I produced my receipt that I paid my one night's deposit. Carlton tried to charge us the full stay's fees all over again because according to him he held a room for two days. When I reminded him that I called, he said no one called him and he is always at the front desk. To make matters worse, after my argument with him he said pay for one night and get the other night free. I promptly retorted that it was not at all free. I paid for it. He then made advances towards my brand new bride by saying maybe they could work something out and then winked at her! I almost knocked him down then and there. The mini mart is also run by him so he is both receptionist and shop keeper, plus he picks you up at the airport. I am not sure then how he is always at the front desk as he always says. The rooms were cramped, the air condition noisy and the bathrooms dirty and very small. The planes landing and taking off shakes the entire building and the walk to the beach is long. There is absolutely nothing at all positive that can be said about this hotel, the service is beyond atrocious. My wife got so upset with me for making such a poor choice that she honestly did rethink our marriage. After much grovelling for a second chance, I now have what is a very funny story to anyone who listens. I had to redo my honeymoon several months later at Store Bay Holiday Resort, the best place in Tobago. DO NOT STAY AT JAMES' RESORT. THE HOTEL NEEDS DEMOLISHING AND REDOING AND CARLTON NEEDS TO RETURN TO TOURISM SCHOOL TO LEARN ALL ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

“Basic comfortable accomodation close to airport and beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2010

We stayed here for one night before our flight home. Room was small but with nice tall ceilings. It had a good size fridge and freezer along with satellite TV and good if a little noisy air con. The bed was very comfortable as was the balcony. There was a small warm pool.

No towels were provided, we did not ask for any so not sure if we would have got them if we had requested them. The shower was warm and powerful.

The hotel is next to the runway but seeing the planes land and take off is a feature more than an issue to me. I would not consider the plane noise excessive, most planes are only small inter island props.

Like other reviewers there was little staff presence in fact only one guy was seen who manned Reception and the little shop. We felt no threat at this hotel but I guess if there was an incident security could be a real issue. Had to hang around for the guy to turn up to check if in but he waivored the early check in fee which was good.

The sun deck gave an amazing 360 degreee view of the sea and airport.
